Join the Legal, Compliance and Quality team at Novo Nordisk Vietnam, where we ensure the organisation complies with legal and regulatory requirements. The role will report directly to the Country Manager of Novo Nordisk Vietnam.
The position
As a Legal Compliance and Quality Director, your key responsibilities are to ensure compliance with industry codes, pharmaceutical legislation, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while supporting compliance process improvements across departments.
You will be leading a team of 1 legal and 2 quality team members, as part of the Vietnam affiliate leadership team.
You will conduct compliance reviews, guide management in decision-making, and deliver targeted training on relevant frameworks. Additionally, you will manage General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and personal data protection, oversee the Quality Management System (QMS) setup for Novo Nordisk warehouse, and ensure adherence to Novo Nordisk Quality standards.
- Act as Legal and Compliance Director:
- Serves as the Subject Matter Expert liaison for compliance risk management, providing reliable compliance counsel on both general and specific business ethics and compliance matters to management and the Line of Business (LoB), while proactively driving the local Compliance Programme by developing, executing, and following up on key compliance initiatives and supporting the LoB in effective implementation and performance monitoring.
- Provides value-adding advice to management and the Line of Business (LoB) on embedding a Business Ethics mindset, staying updated with amendments to the framework, and communicating changes to relevant stakeholders, while acting as the Local Business Ethics Compliance Framework (BECF) Owner, Content Responsible, and Editor.
- Duly implements compliance activities as advised by the Regional Head of Legal and Compliance, reviews the unit’s promotional materials and external communications, updates the HCP Interactions Regulations Overview (HIRO) on GlobeShare as prompted by the Business Ethics Compliance Office (BECO), and serves as the Legislation List Monitor for relevant compliance legislation and guidelines.
- Assists with compliance aspects of competitor complaints and provides stakeholders with counsel on mitigating measures, supports preparation for internal and external audits related to compliance, and analyses work processes to identify compliance-friendly business efficiency measures.
- Trains new employees in compliance and business ethics at an introductory level, coordinates and develops materials for advanced training sessions targeting relevant stakeholders, and proactively collaborates with external agencies (including LIF) to maintain and develop best practices.
- Act as Data Protection Responsible (GDPR):
- Use Data Process Overview Tool to document and map business activities in affiliate, incl. engages stakeholders as part of mapping process and in fixing compliance gaps, where necessary. Ensure follow up and management reporting.
- Consult local legal or external counsel to identify local requirements in national legislation, if needed, and responsible for ensuring that these are reflected locally. Act as anchor point for interaction with local data protection authorities.
- Responsible for cascading communication and knowledge sharing within affiliate.
- Ensure training is coordinated and conduct for all relevant employees (based on training materials developed by the Project team/DPO).
- Advise organization on issues related to GDPR implementation in an NN context, sparring with local legal as needed. Support local management in ensuring sufficient anchoring of DPR role for continued compliance.
- Oversight the Set up QMS of NN warehouse (Entity conversion project) to ensure the safety, quality and benefit of the products that were received (imported), stored, inspected, relabelled and delivered to distributors in compliance with both local health authority inspection and internal NN qualification audit
- Delegated (from management) responsibility for the implementation of Novo Nordisk Quality.
- Document control, act as QA approval.
Qualifications
- Bachelor in Legal or other relevant master’s degree (mandatory) with good business understanding (preferably business degree).
- Over 5 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, with expertise in compliance, business ethics, and personal data protection.
- Strong risk analysis, assessment, and action capabilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; fluent in written and spoken English.
- Quality mindset with strong attention to detail, coordination, time management skills, and the ability to manage and analyze complex tasks.
