About the department

 

The Corporate Affairs Department brings the value of Novo Nordisk medicines and innovations to life through strategic communications that elevate our purpose, drive our business, foster our culture and enhance our reputation with patients, customers, employees and society. Communications is comprised of four distinct yet synergistic teams that work collaboratively with a focus on proactive and progressive approaches to:  Corporate Reputation & Brand; Commercial Communications; Enterprise & Leadership Communications; and Digital Channels & Content. The position

 

Market Access & Patient Access

 

  • Design and execute the local Patient Access, Value Communication, and Public Affairs strategy in line with business priorities and develop and oversee the execution of the overall communication strategy, ensuring alignment with commercial goals and objectives, with a focus on diabetes and obesity.
  • Deliver re-imbursement, HTA Assessments, price and tender applications
  • Shape and direct key messaging to external stakeholders, including policymakers, payers, healthcare professionals, patient groups, and the public, to influence public affairs, government policy, and industry positions and monitor the patient access landscape, healthcare system changes, and trends in the field to drive aligned actions and tactics for local market access.
  • Drive the implementation of value communication tools to maximize the recognition of the value proposition of Novo Nordisk drugs and ensure local market uptake. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to aid government affairs priorities and secure alignment and execution.
  • Monitor external trends, identify risks and opportunities, and recommend strategic response actions to assist patient access and public affairs goals and develop and sustain collaborations and partnerships with Southeast Asia (BASEA) and critical functional areas within own affiliate (Marketing, Sales, Clinical, Medical & Regulatory) to drive aligned actions and tactics for local Market Access.
  • Manages and develops a team of direct reports by setting annual objectives, providing coaching, recognition, and career development support.

 

Government Affairs

  • Makes significant contribution to Public Affairs Business Plan preparation and execute accordingly
  • Advises on appropriate influencing strategies for different government bodies
  • Prepares, agrees and implements pro-active solutions for the government affairs issues that can be seen as a problem for the short and long term within each therapy area.
  • Reconciles views across the business in order to prioritize and manage issues.
  • Assesses the impact of external trends on NN's commercial strategies.
  • Researches and advises on the influence of various government groups
  • Develops and maintains appropriate information gathering on all competitive activities and health care reform trends, and communicate these to appropriate people in the organization
  • Actively keeps updated about NN's commercial objectives, business strategies and their political acceptability


Corporate Affairs & Communications

  • Represent Novo Nordisk at key external events which may include government or industry related activities.
  • Proactively identifying any potential business threats and opportunities and developing corresponding action and communication plans, including crisis communications
  • Working with APAC Corporate affairs and Vietnam communications team on a weekly basis to manage media engagement and share coverage.
  • Managing the business unit communications channels including the corporate website content, look and feel and ensuring it remains compliant and in line with SOPs.
  • Leading training, providing and advice, and monitoring compliance against our Corporate Visual Identity (CVI) and Communications policies and procedures
  • Leading media training and coaching of key spokespeople and the Vietnam and overseeing the implementation of global corporate programs across the business unit in line with business need.
  • Leading the Driving Change strategy and program implementation across the business unit and management team

 
Policy environment shaping & establishing networks.

  • Shaping local market environment by working with a range of stakeholders including patients’ groups, regional payers, KOLs, policy holders, politicians and media
  • Developing strong networks within key stakeholders including industry, academia, KOLS, payers and patient bodies to shape our environment and engaging mutually beneficial partnerships.

 
Providing advice to local leadership teams

  • Creating a 3-5-year strategic corporate affairs plan for the affiliate that aligns functional objectives with affiliate, regional and global direction.
  • Medium- and long-term public and government affairs, internal and external communications strategies and plans that drive the business and align affiliate, regional and Global priorities with the needs of the Government in general.
  • Provide strategic counsel to the executive leadership team on communication matters and reputation management.
  • Oversee data, insights and measurement of all corporate affairs activity.
  • Generating initiatives and forums (groups) for the discussion of business opportunities (internal and external)
  • Setting standards in the local affiliate by challenging and contributing to the Management Team and/or Cross functional/therapy teams
  • Identifying initiatives of other affiliates and Business Areas that could contribute to the affiliate development.
  • In line with the Global Public Affairs Competency Framework, delivers against four key technical competences to succeed in public affairs:

 

Policy shaping & Advocacy, Partnering

  • Promotes portfolio thinking and identifies synergies between therapy areas to optimize policy opportunities.
  • Responsible for establishing Value at Stake analysis, and priorities external issues and opportunities.
  • Acts as a strategic advisor to Leadership Team on policy issues related to current and future portfolio.
  • Brings an existing, long-term, strategic, political network to Novo Nordisk
  • Develops sustainable, long-term alliances and coalitions that run independently of Novo Nordisk
  • Builds an internal environment where partnerships with external stakeholders are expected and valued to achieve strategic goals.
  • Encourages open dialogue with industry critical stakeholders.

 

Patient Relations

  • Fosters system change to ensure formal inclusion of patient voice in policy development.
  • Ensures that the importance of patient voice in external discussions is understood internally.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor and resource to the patient organisation / advocate
  • Identifies and shares best practice from other countries, therapy areas and industries.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in the related field of corporate affairs/communication/public affairs.
  • Min. 3-4 years of people management experiences will be preferred.
  • Strongly established networks with patient groups, government institutions, pharmaceutical associations would be added advantage. 
  • Relevant experiences in global pharma and/or multinational companies are required.
  • Politics, public administration, social policy, communications, or life sciences degree preferred.
  • Proven and evidenced track record of successful campaigns generating genuine change in policy and behavior, leading independently, and working as part of a team.
  • In-depth understanding of corporate and health care system, its policy and the key stakeholders and opinion leaders is required.
  • Proven ability to analyze, recommend, lead and implement strategies, projects and initiatives cross-functionally is expected.
