Systems Engineer for Medical Devices

Are you ready to play a key role in Novo Nordisk’s development projects and help improve patient outcomes? Would you like to develop the next generation of medical devices for a variety of chronic diseases? In this position you will get a unique opportunity to use your engineering background to design, integrate and manage medical device systems. Systems Engineering is at the heart of how we develop complex projects and with a rapidly growing portfolio of patient offerings including new connected devices and digital health systems, we are currently looking for experienced Systems Engineers to support the scaling of the organisation and influence how we work.
 

The Job

As a Systems Engineer, you will play a leading role as part of a medical device development project through all stages of the product lifecycle. You will be responsible for accurately defining the device requirements and assuring that these requirements are met by the device. You will keep a holistic and structured view of the device during the development process and you will need to solve interdisciplinary challenges that occur during that process.
 

Your main tasks will include:

  • The establishment of user needs, systems requirements, verification planning and the documentation of development processes.
  • You will take part in driving our systems engineering activities for an innovative portfolio of drug delivery systems while taking responsibility for the continuous improvement of our processes aiming at making sure that they are as simple as they can be, without compromising on quality.
  • Conducting thorough and detailed analyses of critical system issues.
  • Reaching out to stakeholders across the organisation and facilitate meetings and workshops in order to reach decisions and ensure progress. You thrive on being detail-oriented while being able to see the bigger picture.
     

You will work in close collaboration with e.g. regulatory affairs, mechanical engineers, SW/HW engineers, project managers, UX and graphical designers., where you will play an important role in connecting these stakeholders across professional areas of expertise.

 

Qualifications

  • You hold a master’s degree or equivalent within engineering
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience within systems engineering. Preferably in a medical device company or other regulated industries.
  • Professional proficiency within oral and written English is essential

 

It would be considered an advantage if you have:

  • Successfully taken a product from concept to product launch
  • Proficiency in requirements tools e.g. DOORS or Modern Requirements
  • Experience with modelling languages, e.g. SysML
  • Managed complexity of multiple platforms and variants through Product Line Engineering, Configuration Management and Variability Modelling
  • Experience with SW, HW and Mechanical domains
     

As a person, you are analytical, structured, demonstrate attention to detail, while keeping the overview of the system you are engineering. You are capable of handling complexity in processes and having many various activities going on in parallel. You are a strong team player recognised for your interpersonal skills. You bring a "can do" spirit, a healthy common sense and a good sense of humour to your work.
 

About the Department

The Systems Engineering department is a newly established department of highly skilled and motivated professionals and specialists which take pride in being the experts driving system design, from early development through product commercialization. We are part of Novo Nordisk Device Delivery Solutions, which is the organisation responsible for the development of device solutions for medical self-treatment within all business areas of Novo Nordisk A/S. In our department, we have a wide range of development projects in different development phases that we contribute to, from connected devices to pens and auto-injectors. 
 

Our main aim is to further advance our offerings to people living with chronic diseases and their healthcare professionals through new technologies.
