Device Delivery Solutions (DDI), Secondary Packaging

Hillerød, Denmark

Teaser

There has never been a more exciting time to work within Secondary Packaging at Novo Nordisk. As we continue our shift towards a stronger consumer-focused mindset, packaging is becoming an increasingly important part of how patients and customers experience our products. As a Senior Secondary Packaging Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring our packaging solutions are robust, compliant, sustainable, and designed to meet the needs of both production and end users worldwide. The role combines product ownership, global support, and design control responsibilities within one of Novo Nordisk’s most strategically important packaging areas.

Your new role

As a Senior Secondary Packaging Engineer, you will become part of a highly skilled team responsible for maintaining and continuously improving Novo Nordisk’s global secondary packaging portfolio. While you may occasionally contribute to development projects, your primary focus will be ensuring that products already on the market continue to perform effectively and meet all requirements throughout their lifecycle.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Driving design verification activities for packaging changes and assessing impacts through change control processes.
  • Providing expert input to investigations, deviations, customer complaints, risk assessments, and quality-related activities.
  • Supporting production sites globally and acting as a key point of contact for packaging-related challenges.
  • Identifying and implementing initiatives that improve robustness, compliance, safety risk management, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborating closely with stakeholders across development, production, quality assurance, laboratories, and engineering functions to solve complex challenges and support business priorities.

Success in this role requires the ability to navigate a large stakeholder landscape, maintain a holistic perspective while managing detailed technical topics, and make sound decisions in situations where production, quality, and business needs intersect.

Your new department

You will join Secondary Packaging (SecPack), part of Device Delivery Solutions (DDI), owning and supporting packaging for Novo Nordisk finished products. The department consists of approximately 40 colleagues divided across three teams covering packaging design, project management, and design control with global support responsibilities.

The team you will join combines product ownership, design control, and global support activities, creating a unique opportunity to work across the full product lifecycle. Rather than handing solutions over to another team, we maintain ownership from development through implementation and ongoing support, ensuring that lessons learned from the market continuously drive improvements and innovation.

You will become part of a collaborative, highly competent, and supportive team environment where technical excellence, curiosity, and teamwork are valued equally. The team takes pride in solving complex challenges while maintaining a strong and positive culture.

Your skills and qualifications

To succeed in this role, we imagine you have:

  • A Master’s degree in Engineering, Natural Sciences, Medical Device Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working within a regulated industry such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, food production, aviation, or automotive manufacturing.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple functions and organisational levels.
  • Experience supporting production environments and an understanding of how technical decisions impact manufacturing operations.
  • Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.

Additionally, candidates who understand packaging systems, design control processes, production support, or lifecycle management will be particularly well positioned for success. Experience handling complex technical challenges, balancing competing priorities, and maintaining composure during periods of high activity will also be highly valued.

As a person, you are analytical, structured, collaborative, and driven by finding simple solutions to complex challenges. You enjoy both independent responsibility and teamwork, and you thrive when balancing strategic thinking with technical detail.
