The position

Novo Nordisk is pursuing an ambitious strategy of improving the lives of people living with chronic diseases and driving business growth by innovating and launching connected devices and digital health systems. With a rapidly growing portfolio of device projects, we are now looking for Mechanical Engineers for the development of our drug delivery systems.

 

You will be part of a team consisting of mechanical engineers and work with a broad development portfolio covering from low volume to very high-volume products consisting mainly of injection molded plastic components.

You will:

  • Participate in one or more interdisciplinary device development projects.
  • Bring products from concepts to production, focusing on mid to late phases.
  • Take part in development from definition of requirements, product design, and verification.
  • Ensure development is done by the Novo Nordisk process for robust design.
  • Together with your colleagues, ensure a robust and functional mechanical design by capturing the design intent by kinematic evaluation, tolerance stack-up, structural analysis, and specifications.
  • Manage change requests and deviations on late-phase projects and customer complaints on marketed products.

Qualifications

 

To thrive and succeed in the job, we expect you to have:

 

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering with experience in mechanical mechanism design and designing components, including 3D modeling in either CREO or Catia.
  • Knowledge of robust design, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), systems engineering, and risk management.
  • Exposure to full lifecycle management of devices or consumer products, including but not limited to advanced mechanical design and virtual development, usability, and transfer to high-volume manufacturing.
  • Fluency in written and oral English.

 

It would be considered an advantage if you have previous experience with:

 

  • Product development and commercialization of new products, preferably with a focus on maturing existing products and taking them to production. Project planning and coordinating activities across teams.
  • Experience within the medical device or another highly regulated industry and having ISO 13485, 11608, and 1497 certifications.

 

As a person, you are comfortable with taking initiative with a ‘can do’ mind-set. You are making independent prioritizations and you like to demonstrate attention to detail. In addition, you are a strong team player, and are recognised for your interpersonal skills.

About the department

You will join “Device Engineering” as a mechanical engineer, in one of the three mechanical teams, a group of mechanical engineers that are motivated by advancing the care of people living with diabetes and other chronic conditions. In our daily work, we both do detailed design and analysis as well as project planning activities, collaborating closely with internal and external partners and stakeholders. We are expanding our portfolio of device projects that bring reliable engineering solutions together to meet the unmet needs of patients across the globe.

 

Device Engineering is part of Devices & Delivery Solutions (DDS), an area anchored to Novo Nordisk’s global R&D organisation. We develop medical devices for self-treatment, supporting all business areas of Novo Nordisk A/S. It is located in Hillerød, in the greater Copenhagen area, and we have a long and outstanding track record of developing the best, most innovative and widely used insulin devices in the world.
