The position
As Director, you will grow and develop the broader Material Manufacturing Development area together with the leadership team and be responsible for managing the Analytical Development department, which today consists of 4 teams. You will set direction for the department according to the Novo Nordisk Way (our company values), as well as ensuring that the organisation is ready for the challenges and opportunities ahead. You will collaborate closely with colleagues in our inbound supply chain and Novo Nordisk production sites around the world, and drive department performance to reach our targets.

Some of your other responsibilities include:

  • Driving development of analytical methods for Quality Control (QC) testing of raw materials and primary packaging, as well as leading innovation on new analytical testing equipment and strategy
  • Supporting development and Contract Manufacturing Organisation (CMO) projects and ensuring a strong collaboration across different groups of internal and external stakeholders in a global context
  • Developing the department: you will take part in driving the innovation and continuous improvement agenda both at a tactical and strategic level
  • Nurturing the people: you will be responsible for high engagement and securing a strong talent pipeline of leaders, senior project managers and specialists within Manufacturing Material Development
  • Promoting and supporting the diversity and inclusion culture in the department and across Sourcing Operations 

You will report to the Vice President Material Manufacturing Development and become a member of a new leadership team, where you will be part of setting a new structure. The position is primarily based in Hillerød.


To be considered for this position, we imagine you have: 

  • A master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, natural sciences, engineering or any other relevant field
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience leading leaders and a proven track record of driving high performance teams delivering measurable business improvements through collaboration
  • Interest or experience in working with continuous improvement and innovation, and building up functions
  • Full professional proficiency in English 

It would be considered as an advantage if you are familiar with working in a regulated production environment, preferably with Manufacturing Development.

About the department
Material Manufacturing Development is part of Sourcing Operations, which is overall responsible for the inbound supply chain of Novo Nordisk. We use our differences to create novel ideas and high-quality solutions to ensure continuous improvement of the Sourcing Operations function globally. You will be working in the headquarters with an environment characterized by innovation, openness and highly engaged colleagues who works dedicated to help us change lives for the better for patients around the world.

Material Manufacturing Development consists of 110 employees, mainly with engineering or natural science background, and is organised into three Director areas. 
You will interact within a highly diverse and rich stakeholder landscape.
