As a key member of our Clinical Development, Medical & Regulatory, the Medical Science Liaison is responsible for:
­

  • Actively interfaces with multiple external stakeholders including top KOLs, academic institutions, major hospitals, public and private payers, clinical investigators, and others to implement and support the overall Novo­ Nordisk Canada strategies and apply the scientific and clinical data to support the therapeutic and business interests of Novo Nordisk Canada­
  • Builds and maintains relationships with KOLs through discussions regarding research including Investigator Initiated Studies (IISs), NNCI marketed products and pipeline as well as competitor products and disease state. ­
  • Provides additional clinical support to research sites involved in NNCI clinical trials at the request of the NNCI Clinical ­Development unit. Establishes scientific and medical credibility with KOLs, by keeping abreast of relevant published scientific material and creates open communication lines with KOLs to monitor awareness, understanding and impact on NNCI business units.
  • At the request of the NNCI field Sales unit and in response to unsolicited questions from HCPs, presents scientific information to specific HCPs to increase awareness around key scientific concepts regarding Novo Nordisk (NN) marketed products that can be leveraged by field commercial personnel to help achieve their objectives. Establishes medical and scientific expertise and maintains high professional credibility and ethical standards in interactions with all customers to be seen as a reliable medical and scientific resource by stakeholders.
  • Acts as a clinical and therapeutic resource in assigned therapeutic area within the CMR Department by developing and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of current, investigational and competitor products to provide support, guidance and therapeutic expertise to Sales staff, Medical Affairs and Marketing. ­
  • Supports the pre-launch activities for NN’s pipeline products by increasing awareness on future products through medical and scientific support to HCPs, payers as well as other relevant associations within an assigned geographic region­­
  • Closely collaborates with field management in developing appropriate scientific approaches and solutions to support business strategies­
  • Helps increase awareness of the unmet needs and enhance the accurate scientific competitive positioning of NNCI products in Canada.

    ­Skills and Qualifications:
  • M.D, Pharm.D, Ph.D­
  • A minimum of three yeas relevant Pharmaceutical industry experience in medical or sales areas or a minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in a scientific or medical discipline
  • Previous experience as a Medical Science Liaison would be an asset
  • Highly collaborative with a high degree of flexibility is required
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time including frequent out of town travels
  • Candidates must speak/read/write French and English
