The position

As Vice President and Strategic Expert for Small Molecules within ET API MSAT & QC you will be the resident expert on state-of-the-art small molecule process chemistry at Novo Nordisk.

 

In addition, you will:

  • Use best-in-class principles of small molecule process chemistry to develop and manufacture new drugs and enhance existing products.
  • Establish and optimize related manufacturing technologies and develop innovative application-specific solutions.
  • Act as thought-leader for small molecule process chemistry and provide input and advice to senior management when/if required.
  • Provide scientific input to commercial strategy at SVP/CVP level and lead international collaborations with external partners. Support and influence stakeholder organizations with technical know-how.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of product development processes across lab, pilot, scale-up, and commercialization phases.
  • Create and lead projects to improve synthetic and engineering solutions for commercial manufacturing.
  • Evaluate new technologies and recommend their acquisition and application.

 

The role is preferably based in the Greater Copenhagen area in Denmark. However, we are open to consider candidates based at our US site in Petersburg (VA) who can travel frequently to Denmark or hybrid/commute arrangements within Europe.

 

Qualifications

You are a thought leader and expert in the field of small molecule process chemistry for pharmaceutical development. You possess:

  • Proven track record of senior scientific roles, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Expert knowledge and practical experience in state-of-the-art small molecule process chemistry including small molecule API development (CMC) and commercial manufacturing
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and problem-solving within small molecule process chemistry (including CDMO recruitment and management)
  • Strong familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality standards.
  • Proven success in collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Skill in developing and executing strategic plans.
  • Strong communication skills and experience managing relationships with stakeholders.
  • A PhD in organic chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related discipline.

 

About the area

ET is a newly established Senior Vice President area in Novo Nordisk. We have a growing pipeline of new products, many of which are based on emerging technology platforms coming into Product Supply via internal development projects and externally acquired assets. ET is well known for having a pioneering spirit as well as a curious and daring approach and we play a key role in developing and producing future treatments for millions of patients around the world. 

Within ET, our API Manufacturing Science and Technology & Quality Control area comprises of c. 150 dedicated and talented employees, located in Bagsværd (DK), Høje Taastrup (DK), Boston (US) and Petersburg (US). We are responsible for the commercial synthetic API processes at Novo Nordisk (small molecules, synthetic peptides and modified oligonucleotides) and their quality control, internally as well as in collaboration with our CMO network. We are a growing organization with a significant impact on Novo Nordisk future pipeline of new modalities and how to produce and analyse them.
