Pilot Scientist for purification campaigns

Mammalian Pilot Plant, Purification Team
Gentofte, Denmark

Drive purification campaigns in a pilot-scale manufacturing environment where your ability to coordinate people, processes, and execution directly impacts the delivery of drug candidates for clinical trials. Join a team working at the intersection of process development and manufacturing scale-up in Mammalian Pilot Plant.

Your new role

As a Pilot Scientist in Purification at the Mammalian Pilot Plant (MPP), you will play a key role in planning and driving purification campaigns that support the development and scale-up of new biopharmaceutical products.

You will join a team working in a dynamic pilot plant environment where close collaboration with technicians, scientists, and support functions is essential to ensuring successful campaign execution.

In this role, you will:

  • Plan, coordinate, and drive purification campaigns in collaboration with technicians and colleagues across the pilot plant
  • Work with downstream purification processes, including chromatography and filtration operations at pilot scale
  • Ensure campaign readiness by coordinating activities, materials, documentation, and operational requirements
  • Monitor campaign progress and support troubleshooting when processes do not perform as expected
  • Handle deviations, investigations, and change requests in accordance with GMP requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of new equipment, systems, and ways of working
  • Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor and support efficient execution of daily operations

You will get an exciting and varied workday where you will combine scientific understanding with operational execution in a pilot-scale manufacturing environment. You will have the opportunity to contribute to both day-to-day campaign delivery and the ongoing development of the facility and its ways of working.

Your new department

In CMC & Product Supply, we cover the full value chain from drug and device development to marketed Novo Nordisk products. We are more than 30,000 colleagues across the globe with the shared responsibility of scaling molecules, processes, devices, and products, dedicated to supplying life-saving medicines to the patients who need them most.

As part of CMC Development & Scaling, Mammalian Pilot Plant develops, manufactures, and distributes drug candidates for clinical and developmental trials. Mammalian Pilot Plant includes pilot-scale facilities for cultivation and recovery of proteins at approximately 1000L scale. Our pharmaceutical production processes utilise mammalian cells, and the purified proteins produced in our facilities support clinical and developmental programmes. The department consists of approximately 60 employees across four teams: Cultivation, Recovery, Purification, and Support.

The Purification team operates in a dynamic pilot plant environment where we continuously improve our processes, implement new technologies, and strengthen the way we work together. This is an opportunity to join a team where you can contribute both to daily operations and to shaping future ways of working.
