Internship - Communication
Gentofte, Capital Region of Denmark, DK
Department: Communication and Sustainability
Location: Gentofte, Denmark
Your impact begins here
As Communications Intern at the World Diabetes Foundation (WDF), you will help tell the story of 25 years of diabetes prevention and care projects in low- and middle-income countries. You join at an important moment: WDF’s 25th anniversary. From content planning to community engagement, you will help shape a campaign that informs stakeholders and brings the work of WDF’s projects and partners to more people. Your ideas, stories and visuals will be seen.
What you’ll bring
You are curious, creative and motivated to learn. You take responsibility for your tasks, ask questions when you need to and enjoy working with colleagues to get things done. You also bring:
- Current enrolment in, or a completed, bachelor’s or master’s programme in communication, media, journalism, marketing, international development, global health or a related field.
- An interest in social media and digital communication, and an understanding of how content can be adapted for different channels and audiences.
- An interest in creating written, visual, photo or short-form video content – whether through your studies, student work, volunteering or personal projects.
- Confident written and spoken English.
- A structured, collaborative way of working and an interest in global health and international development.
- Experience with tools such as Canva, video-editing software, Mailchimp or Google Analytics. Most importantly, you want to learn and contribute.
What you’ll do
This is a hands-on internship. You will help plan and deliver WDF’s 25th anniversary and contribute to the content, campaigns and reporting that keep stakeholders informed.
- Support campaigns and initiatives – especially the 25th anniversary campaign – through content planning, asset development and community engagement.
- Help coordinate and deliver WDF’s 25th anniversary activities, working closely with the anniversary project lead.
- Identify stories with colleagues, collect photos, videos and data, and turn them into content aligned with WDF’s brand and communications priorities.
- Support stakeholder mapping by consolidating information and building a clear overview of WDF’s stakeholder landscape.
- Contribute to social media content, performance reporting and digital storytelling.
- Depending on your interests, experience and the team’s priorities, you may also work on website content, newsletters, photography, short-form video and communications analytics.
Who you’ll work with
You will join WDF’s team in Gentofte, Denmark. WDF was founded in 2002 by Novo Nordisk A/S as an independent foundation and is today a leading global funder of diabetes prevention and care projects in low- and middle-income countries.
Your closest partner on the anniversary will be the anniversary project lead, and you will work with colleagues across WDF to find stories and gather material. WDF is a diverse team based in Denmark that works closely with partners around the world, so your content will be created for international audiences – and you will see how communications support partnerships, fundraising and organisational priorities.
What you can expect here
You will gain practical experience in digital communication, campaigning and global health in an international, purpose-driven organisation. You will take ownership of meaningful assignments that can support your professional and academic development, and you will contribute to a visible initiative in WDF’s 25th anniversary.
Experienced colleagues will give you ongoing guidance and feedback, so you can build your skills in content creation, campaign planning, analytics and community engagement – and see your work make a difference.
