Location: Gentofte
Your impact begins here
Are you experienced in virology and downstream purification, and motivated to apply your expertise to virus safety? Join our CMC Virus Safety team, where you will take independent ownership, quickly build new knowledge and combine hands-on experimental work with scientific advisory and project coordination. Apply today and help shape the virus safety strategies behind tomorrow’s therapeutic products
What you’ll do
As an Advanced Development Scientist in the Virus Safety team, you will work with experts across the Chemistry, Manufacturing & Control (CMC) Drug Development organisation to develop and manage virus safety strategies for Drug Substance projects. You will advise stakeholders, contribute to cross-disciplinary project teams and coordinate activities that ensure the virus safety of mammalian-expressed products in development.
A central part of the role is planning, executing and analysing downscaled downstream purification experiments. Your work will support the development of robust purification processes that remove and/or inactivate viruses. The position also provides strong opportunities to develop your scientific expertise and project management capabilities.
Your key responsibilities:
- Plan and conduct virus clearance evaluation studies using downscaled purification processes.
- Plan, evaluate and report experimental laboratory work.
- Provide data and scientific input to purification process development.
- Collaborate closely with laboratory technicians, including troubleshooting technical issues and ensuring the delivery of high-quality project results.
- Contribute to scientific writing, including documentation for clinical trial applications.
- Coordinate virus safety activities for mammalian-expressed products in development.
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this role, we expect that you hold at least an M.Sc. in chemical engineering, biochemistry or another relevant discipline. You also bring:
- Have experience with downstream purification process steps, such as chromatography and filtration, for example using an ÄKTA chromatography system.
- Communicate effectively and collaborate confidently with stakeholders across functions and organisational areas.
It would be an advantage if you also have:
- Relevant industry experience or a PhD.
- Experience from a GMP-regulated area.
- Knowledge of molecular detection techniques such as qPCR or RT-qPCR.
As a person, you are proactive, self-driven and comfortable taking independent ownership of your work. You learn quickly, seek out the knowledge needed to move tasks forward and apply new insights in practice. With a practical and solution-oriented mindset, you stay focused and adapt effectively when priorities or challenges change. You also enjoy collaborating, sharing knowledge and contributing to strong results with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation.
Who you’ll work with
The Virus Safety team is part of the CMC Development organisation, which brings new therapeutic products into clinical trials. Based at our Gentofte site, the team assures the viral safety of API processes and biopharmaceutical products.
Our work is grounded in a strong scientific approach and carried out in multidisciplinary project groups. We collaborate closely with analytical and process development colleagues as well as international production facilities. The environment is dynamic and fast-changing, making curiosity, adaptability and a can-do attitude essential.
