Senior Financial Accountant

Bring your technical accounting expertise to a role where precision meets purpose. Join NNUK as our Senior Financial Accountant and take ownership of the financial close, statutory reporting and control environment that underpins our ability to reach more patients than ever before.

Your new role

As Senior Financial Accountant for NNUK, you will lead our financial accounting and close processes, safeguard balance sheet integrity, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and act as a senior technical expert across statutory reporting, audit and internal controls.

Day-to-day, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and owning the month-end and year-end close for NNUK, ensuring timely, accurate and audit-ready financial statements while coordinating cross-functional activities with Tax, Payroll, GBS and the business
  • Taking full accountability for balance sheet accuracy, reconciliations and the oversight of offshored reconciliation activity, driving follow-up where required
  • Leading the statutory accounts process from preparation through to audit completion and Companies House filings, in line with relevant accounting standards and regulations
  • Supporting the operation and continuous improvement of internal controls over financial reporting, ensuring adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley and the Minimum Controls framework via Assurance Connect
  • Leading periodic due diligence and credit risk analysis to support Working Capital Funding with private providers
  • Acting as a senior Finance Business Partner – providing insight, constructive challenge and targeted training to business teams – and mentoring the Assistant Financial Accountant
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives in partnership with GBS, Tax and Payroll to enhance reporting efficiency, accuracy and KPI performance across shared service centres

Your new department

As part of International Operations, you will join our largest operational unit. Covering 194 countries and 95% of the world's population, more than 18,000 of us work passionately to serve 35 million patients each day. With a promise to outperform the competition, we continue to be the growth driver for Novo Nordisk, and to improve health at scale across the globe.

Within NNUK, the Financial Accounting team sits at the heart of our Finance function – ensuring the integrity of our numbers, the strength of our controls and the trust of our internal and external stakeholders. As Senior Financial Accountant, you'll work closely with the Senior Manager, Financial Accounting (providing cover when needed), partnering with colleagues across Tax, Payroll, GBS and the wider business.

Your skills & qualifications

We're looking for a fully qualified accountant who combines deep technical expertise with a pragmatic, improvement-minded approach. You operate independently, communicate with clarity and bring a meticulous eye for detail. You'll bring with you:

  • A degree-level education and full qualification as an ACCA or ACA accountant, with 5+ years PQE in financial accounting and statutory reporting within a complex, regulated environment
  • Proven experience working with SOX/internal control frameworks and managing relationships with both internal and external auditors
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS, alongside an understanding of UK VAT rules and basic corporation tax
  • Demonstrated experience managing relationships with shared service centres, including KPI governance and driving performance improvement
  • Strong analytical, stakeholder management and communication skills – able to translate complex financial information for non-financial audiences and engage confidently at senior levels
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, with the flexibility to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines and the ability to coach and develop less experienced colleagues
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. SAP, QuickBooks) and the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
