Medical Advisor, Rare Disease

International Operations
United Kingdom

Join us at the forefront of rare blood disorders – where your medical expertise will help shape how we reach patients with significant unmet needs.

Your new role

This is a pioneering opportunity to support Novo Nordisk's presence in the rare blood disorders space. You'll drive medical and scientific strategy aligned to business objectives while ensuring full compliance with PMCPA requirements. Your work will directly influence how we support patients living with conditions where treatment options remain limited.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Driving medical and scientific projects within the rare disease therapy area, contributing to the development of Medical Affairs strategy based on insights from patients, HCPs, and health systems

  • Ensuring compliant and high-quality KOL management, advisory board planning, medical education via omnichannel approaches, and publication planning and strategy

  • Acting as an ABPI final signatory and driving PMCPA-related activities across materials, campaigns, and projects

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop integrated evidence plans, support clinical trials, and plan Investigator Sponsored Studies

  • Partnering with healthcare systems and medical associations to identify and develop solutions along clinical care pathways that improve patient outcomes

  • Providing environmental and competitor intelligence, generating actionable HCP insights to influence the medical content development roadmap

  • Delivering internal training to Medical Affairs and cross-functional colleagues on product use and scientific and educational activities

Your new department

As part of International Operations, you will join our largest operational unit. Covering 194 countries and 95% of the world's population, more than 18,000 of us work passionately to serve 35 million patients each day. With a promise to outperform the competition, we continue to be the growth driver for Novo Nordisk, and to improve health at scale across the globe.

You'll be joining the Medical & Regulatory team, working at the intersection of medical science and commercial strategy. Collaborating closely with clinical medical teams, clinical research teams, and health economics teams, you'll have the opportunity to shape our approach in rare blood disorders – a space where scientific credibility and strategic thinking are paramount.

Your skills & qualifications

We're looking for a Medical Advisor who combines deep scientific credibility with a strategic mindset and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments. You'll bring with you:

  • GMC registered doctor or UK registered pharmacist (essential)

  • ABPI final medical signatory qualification, or the capability to be trained and pass the examination within 6–12 months (desirable)

  • Pharmaceutical industry experience working in medical affairs and communication within complex, sophisticated markets, including understanding of matrix organisations

  • Strong scientific credibility with knowledge of GCP, clinical trial methodology, drug development, UK healthcare systems, and publication processes

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills with the ability to manage complex tasks and influence across functions

  • Fluency in written and spoken English; business understanding such as an MBA is desirable
