The Position
As the Business Unit Director for Obesity, you will lead the identification, development, and implementation of business opportunities that enable Novo Nordisk to positively impact the lives of people living with obesity in the UAE. This will involve coordinating the implementation of designed strategies for our portfolio and ensuring that all activities in the country comply with local laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
You will also be responsible for:
- Collaborating with the Global and Regional teams to develop marketing strategies and campaigns in coordination with Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Commercial Excellence.
- Developing strong networks and promoting the visibility of Novo Nordisk among key prescribing and industry influencers to enhance the corporate image and make Novo Nordisk the preferred partner.
- Educating, motivating, and inspiring the organization about the Obesity strategy, core story, brand positioning, key messages, and clinical evidence of Obesity brands.
- Planning, developing, and implementing the strategy of the Obesity business, focusing on sales and market share expansion, marketing and promotional activities, budget control, and people management.
As a people manager, you will maintain employee engagement through performance management, coaching, and talent development.
- Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in business (Marketing, Business Administration, etc.) or Medicine.
- At least 10 years of experience in sales and marketing, preferably in the pharmaceutical or FMCG industry, with an understanding of the market landscape and dynamics and driving positioning.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to thrive in ambiguous and challenging market environments.
- Strong business acumen with a track record of driving sales growth and achieving targets, alongside an entrepreneurial mindset focused on innovation and continuous improvement. Ability to inspire and motivate your team.
- This role requires a dynamic leader with a judicious vision, a strong entrepreneurial drive, and exceptional leadership skills to navigate the complexities of the obesity area and drive business success.
About the Department
The UAE affiliate is a part of the Business Area Africa, Middle East & CIS Countries (BAMEAC), in Region South East Europe, Middle East & Africa (SEEMEA), and has shown exceptional performance. The UAE affiliate is a dynamic organization aiming to cement Novo Nordisk’s position in the UAE Diabetes, Obesity Market & Rare Diseases.
To achieve our goals, we are looking for a BU Director, who will drive our affiliate across the obesity therapy area. You will report to the Vice President and General Manager of Novo Nordisk UAE with a team of five talented professionals as direct reports and will be part of the UAE Leadership Team.
