In Clayton, NC, we now operate two adjacent pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. 

Our Clayton, NC Injectable Finished Products (IFP) facility is a 457,000 square foot aseptic "fill and finish" site that is responsible for producing innovative, injectable diabetes and obesity treatments. Position Purpose

Responsible for the operation, maintenance, administration, & lifecycle management of selected infrastructure systems & platforms.



  • Evaluating existing supported systems & designing proposed systems to ensure lifecycle management of those systems
  • Ensure that installation, troubleshooting, qualification & validation of infrastructure systems meets local & regulatory requirements
  • Monitoring systems & responding to IT incidents
  • Lead investigations & responses to IT Security & Support incidents
  • Ensure security patches are deployed according to patching procedures & manufacturing recommendations
  • Perform Risk assessments & analysis of supported systems for performance & capacity
  • Plan, prepare, test & execute backup & recovery procedures for supported servers
  • Responsible for ensuring the Disaster Recovery Plan for new IT systems implemented
  • Annual Disaster Recovery Testing for any supported systems
  • Work with Security responsible on architecting solutions for security vulnerabilities
  • Provides mentoring, technical guidance, & leadership to ITS staff
  • Collaborate with Global IT Infrastructure groups
  • Provides IT Governance for IT Infrastructure Processes & Procedures
  • Leads IT efforts as work package owner on site projects & leads internal & external infrastructure resources on projects
  • Manage department projects & support other business unit projects
  • Collaborate with System Managers for new systems or updates to existing systems to ensure the right technical solutions are in place
  • Analyzes, plans, & audits the IT systems supported
  • Serve as SME during corporate & external agency audits
  • Support & practice IT Security
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive data
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties Provide ad-hoc production support & after-hours support to the site
  • Other accountabilities as assigned


Required Qualifications

  • BS degree in related field with minimum 7 yr. related experience or 10 years direct experience
  • In depth knowledge of Microsoft OS, Linux OS, Networking principles, & concepts of IT Security
  • Experience leading investigations in environments with more than 300 servers & 2000 workstations Experience with computer & network security, including firewall administration, network segmentation, encryption technologies & network protocols
  • Experience in System Monitoring Tools, Domain Services, Backup Solutions, Deployment of Virtualized Servers, Patch Management, & IT Security
  • Experience with developing, enforcing, & maintaining data systems operational policies & procedures
  • Certification in an IT System Administration/Engineer discipline (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), etc.)
  • Strong technical background in IT Infrastructure systems & networking
  • In depth knowledge of System Monitoring Tools, Domain Services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP), Virtualization Platforms & deployment of servers, Backup Solutions & Disaster Recovery Processes, System Patch Deployment Technologies, Communication Flows & Firewalls, IT Security Controls such as Application Whitelisting/Anti-virus, & Experience with network monitoring & packet analysis tools
  • Analyzing, troubleshooting, documenting, & resolving infrastructure & business system hardware, software & networking incidents
  • Configuring, optimizing, & monitoring operating system software & servers
  • Maintaining an inventory of installed software/hardware & managing software licensing
  • Understanding & practices ITIL framework (Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Asset Management, Release Management, Service Level Management, etc.)
  • Perform life-cycle system development tasks for IT infrastructure systems
  • Operate infrastructure systems under FDA regulations & guidelines as they relate to computer-based information & automation systems
  • Maintain infrastructure documentation & system testing in accordance with federal, corporate, & local requirements
  • Establish, enforce & maintain IT infrastructure policies & procedures
  • Maintain & update the IT Disaster Recovery Plan for supported systems
  • Participate & lead security audits, risk assessments, & analysis
  • Regulatory & Industry Security Trends & developments
  • Assists management with coordinating & prioritizing activities of IT infrastructure team
  • Create, implement, & ensure adherence to strategic IT solution strategies
  • Develops & maintains strong internal relationships
  • Participate in corporate infrastructure guidance groups
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Experience with Systematic Problem Solving (Ability to troubleshoot, resolve, & document IT infrastructure incidents)
  • Demonstrates leadership skills; has the ability to acts as project lead or work package owner & lead cross functional project teams in the development & implementation of programs
  • Knowledge of project management & the development life cycle required
  • Perform project implementation & management tasks, including needs assessment, market surveys, design specification development, system implementation & training for various information technology, telecommunication technology projects in accordance with established procedures
  • Assure all system documentation is up-to-date prior to rollout & compliant with requirements
  • Establish & operate within IT infrastructure cost center & project budgets
  • Demonstrates superior written & oral communication skills
  • Participate in Corporate IT Infrastructure guidance groups
  • Perform other duties as assigned
