You will be joining Fill & Finish Expansions (FFEx), which is responsible for all major expansion activities within aseptic production, solid dosage forms, finished products, fill & finish warehousing, and QC across all production areas in Product Supply. The area is anchored in Product Supply, Quality & IT, which globally employ approx. 20,000 of Novo Nordisk’s 50,000 employees.
FFEx is a newly established and growing area with the responsibility to design, plan, and build all new aseptic filling capacity across Novo Nordisk to serve the needs of millions of patients. The Position
Oversee & drive the activities of the Project Management Office (PMO) & Project Control functions for the site. Formulate, communicate & implement corporate & local strategies to ensure effective support of the program through managing cost, project portfolio & overseeing all Project Controls teams for the Fill & Finish Expansion (FFEx) US Program to ensure expansion in accordance with the Novo Nordisk Way (NNWay). Oversee and manage progress in project performances incl. scopes, budget and schedules and that there are resources, systems and processes in place to ensure a structured management of the projects within Fill & Finish Expansions in compliance with NN and external guidelines and regulations. This includes providing direction, coaching & overseeing the management & supervision of project management & engineering managers, specialists/professionals & consultants/contractors.
Relationships
Reports to Project Vice President.
Essential Functions
- People management and development, to include people selection, expectation setting, performance evaluation to include career development, annual assessments & motivation
- Oversee and manage the governance and project reporting process at all levels, including both local reporting and FFEx Management Performance Reports. Provide insight to project performance and provide advice to project leadership on any key issues, threats and opportunities
- Contribute to implementation of strategies to help the organization grow and improve, including assessing current processes and procedures, identifying areas for improvement, and developing and implementing initiatives to enhance process effectiveness and optimization
- Drive executive stakeholder management & executive level communication to facilitate quick decision-making regarding project-related matters, to include presenting key decisions & requests to executive & investment management
- Manage change within the organization, promoting a positive work culture and supporting employees in their skill and competency development to enhance their abilities, performance & career growth
- Prepare the organization through change management efforts to adapt and prepare for future operations to ensure the site is ready to achieve the set strategic objectives
- Identify trends and diagnose root causes impacting the progress of FFEx, and drive the development and execution of quality solutions
- Ensure adherence to project timelines, meeting targets & expectations, drive adherence to established operating parameters and negotiate changes in project resources as necessary to achieve objectives & timelines
- Design, establish, & maintain an organizational structure & staffing to effectively accomplish the goals & objectives of the project
- Ensure high level of collaboration with corporate functions & direct customer/stakeholders
- Oversee PMO operation & development, including training within area of responsibility
- Establish the foundation for operational project controls (change, risk, schedule, documentation) supporting all projects within the program and associated systems
- Contribute to the development of project execution strategies and oversee the development and maintenance of a comprehensive Project Controls Management Plan
- Through close collaboration with Global PMO, ensure robust processes, procedures, tools and framework are in place for highly effective Project Controls. Serve as FFEx CL representative in local/global planning, PMO activities to ensure FFEx CL interests are represented
- Support organization set up & resources integration
- Contribute to Global PMO led initiatives and Implement a Lessons Learned process across all PMO groups/disciplines
- Participate as member of Senior Leadership Team
- Maintain close collaboration with Project Directors and Project Controls team to identify any critical deviations to the project Baseline
- Develop, cost and propose any necessary recovery plans/solutions to senior leadership
- Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
- Other accountabilities, as assigned
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in an open office environment with the possibility of frequent distraction. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time (% can change on a case-by-case basis based on the role)
Development Of People
Supervisory. Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or business from an accredited university required
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a manufacturing organization required, pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of managing other managers experience required, preferably in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Capital Projects required
- Experience within Project controls disciplines on Capital projects, including Estimating/Cost Management, Change Management, Planning/Scheduling and Risk Management
- Strong leadership skills required
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills required
- Excellent presentation skills required
- Excellent process improvement & problem-solving skills required
- Strong computer skills including MS Office required, SAP preferred
- Organization/Planning: Ability to develop & manage action plans to achieve targets required
