In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. Our newer Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) facility in Clayton, NC sits on 825,000 square-feet of state-of-the-art equipment, and houses the Fermentation, Recovery and Purification in the production of ingredients for Novo Nordisk’s innovative oral products. The Position
Provide focused quality engineering support for the Facility Management department on sitewide projects including, but not limited to, small new construction projects, facility upgrades/retrofits/modernizations, facility equipment, and grounds modifications. This role will handle projects in multiple buildings.
Relationships
Reports to Manager, Facility Management.
Essential Functions
- Develop AutoCAD drawings and architectural and engineering design packages for new builds, modifications, or additions to facilities and facility assets
- Perform design review, value engineering, and construction management for projects
- Gather and analyze data, blueprints, and reports while determining facility and equipment specifications
- Perform facility and capital project management, monitoring, and controlling from design to completion to ensure project deliverables are achieved within the approved scope, cost, and schedule, to include preparing and presenting Gate presentations, developing executive capital summaries, and creating documentation for capital projects
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards
- Analyze project costs and prepare budgets by working with Finance and Procurement to develop Statements of Work and provide purchasing documentation, terms, and conditions on related projects
- Participate in projects involving sitewide building and infrastructure maintenance, repairs, and improvements by creating and reviewing designs, attending meetings, investigating, and applying engineering principles to proposed projects
- Perform management, inspections, and surveillance of outside contractor work to ensure that training and enforcing of safety policies for work being executed is occurring
- Provide recommendations for facility capital improvements
- Establish project/contract budgets and review to ensure adequacy and completeness
- Act as an effective team member in supporting quality disciplines, decisions, and practices as well as providing technical guidance for identifying and resolving quality issues
- Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties
- Other accountabilities, as assigned
Physical Requirements
Ability to move equipment and/or supplies weighing up to thirty-three (33) pounds. Routinely operates and inspects manufacturing equipment. Strap and unstrap pallets. Must be able to be on your feet for up to a twelve-hour (12-hour) shift. May require corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous and/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves. May perform critical job functions in extremely cold work environments depending on site. May position oneself within confined spaces for inspection if required of the role. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. May be required to secure a motorized vehicle license and operate a motorized vehicle based on the role.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a relevant field of study from an accredited university required
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant engineering experience may be substituted for degree as appropriate
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience working within facility management, construction, maintenance required; preferably in a GMP regulated environment
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant engineering experience may be considered based on role complexity and site/business impact as appropriate
- Knowledge of the building process and construction principles preferred
- AutoCAD, SAP, and MS Office experience. Ability to read/review/modify design drawings required
- Understanding of complicated product documentation and standard operating procedures with attention to detail required
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and building codes preferred
- Basic understanding of contractual documents and ability to create work plans and detailed project schedules required
- Good verbal and written communication skills required
- Ability to troubleshoot and demonstrated problem-solving skills required
- Strong Project Management experience with demonstrated ability to control multiple projects preferred
- Demonstrated ability of strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills preferred
