The Position

Responsible for managing the Novo Nordisk US Product Supply Organization Change Management (OCM) function in North Carolina by developing and implementing a comprehensive change management strategy that is less prescriptive than top-down approaches and more collaborative, involving employees throughout the process instead of simply telling them what will happen. Based on the core components of an effective organization including strong leadership, clear strategy, values-based culture, optimized processes, aligned structure, and high performing individuals and teams, the individual will be challenged to leverage multidisciplinary expertise in organization effectiveness, organization development, LEAN/ continuous improvement, communications, project management, and change management to enable success.

 

Relationships

Reports to Director of Public Affairs & Communications; This individual manages, coaches, and consults with project teams and advises senior leadership on complex strategic corporate and manufacturing initiatives. The role reports periodically to functional leadership teams and the Senior Leadership Teams across multiple Product Supply Sites in North Carolina, advising and partnering with HRBPs. External relationships include other Novo Nordisk global functions and affiliates, consultants, vendors, and professional associations/organizations.

 

Essential Functions

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive OCM strategy, identifying a clear business case and associated metrics to measure effectiveness:
    • Drives the process and partners with CVP and their Senior Leadership Teams to identify and prioritize opportunities, diagnose and develop recommendations, implement and sustain OCM solutions aligned with and impacting the execution of the business strategy
    • Builds and provides visibility of the opportunities for cLEAN/ continuous improvement and organization development opportunities and potential projects
    • Provides coaching and consulting to leaders and their teams on strategy development, organization assessment, process improvement, employee engagement, and culture integration
    • Evaluates OCM effectiveness through the development of key metrics to evaluate actual results and impact
    • Establishes a common Product Supply sitewide OCM frameworks and supporting tools and training
    • Proactively keeps abreast of the latest developments within LEAN and OCM
    • Connects and coordinates with other NN units to support leadership in driving organization effectiveness
  • Analyses & Interprets Data:
    • Develops analytical strategies and/or metrics to understand business problems, identify opportunities for improvement, monitor performance, and assess the effectiveness of OCM programs, practices, and improvements
    • Provide guidance on developing appropriate KPIs aligned to functional objectives and identifying tangible leading metrics to ensure success
    • Integrates stakeholder perspectives in order to structure and guide analyses that support decision making, planning, and process improvements
    • Ensures a holistic approach to validating root issues and priorities
  • Project and Change Management:
    • Advises management to ensure OCM projects are well planned, executed, and sustained, which includes tracking project milestones, providing progress reports, and helping project teams identify and resolve issues
    • Creates and executes comprehensive change management plans to enable implementation and sustainability of recommendations, which requires data collection and analysis
    • Ensures that change plans focus on leadership advocacy, engagement of stakeholders, on-going communications, manager coaching, development of training as needed, and reinforcement plans throughout a project with an eye toward decreasing resistance and positively accelerating change to meet short- and long-term business objectives
    • Responsible for monitoring and reporting the tangible benefits for major OCM projects and initiatives
  • Delivers Training Programs and Solutions:
    • Drive development and conducts trainings that equip all Novo Nordisk Product Supply HRBPs and people managers with the tools to support large-scale, complex organization changes and lead through single function, well understood changes
    • Effectively translates complex and technical information for learners to foster development and transfer of training
    • Provides coaching post-training to drive learner performance, transfer of learning, and achievement of objectives and goals
  • Influences Key Stakeholders:
    • Partners with Senior Leadership teams across multiple sites in overseeing and managing OCM and cLEAN initiatives
    • Demonstrates the ability to influence expectations of senior level stakeholders to produce desired effects on behaviors and business outcomes
    • Ensures knowledge sharing and exchange within and across departments as well as internationally with relevant NN Product Supply Sites in the global networks
    • Works in close collaboration with the HRBPs to ensure alignment with business, people priorities, and OCM strategies and tactics
    • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Other accountabilities as assigned

 

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in an open office environment with the possibility of frequent distraction. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time (% can change on a case-by-case basis based on the role).

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required, with a major in Organization Behavior/Organization
  • Development/Organization Effectiveness, Engineering, Business Administration required
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of corporate, non-profit, business or community organization experience required
  • Comprehensive understanding of the business and the day-to-day manufacturing operations required
  • Excellent organizational, planning and follow-through skills required
  • Progressive experience as a practitioner in one or more areas directly related to the role (continuous improvement, organization development, managing/ leading change, LEAN transformation, organization design, team effectiveness, coaching/advising, communications) required
  • Proven ability to work with senior management required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.  Strong Power Point skills preferred
  • Overall, strong analytical, negotiation, influence, meeting management, cross functional team and leadership skills required
  • Relationship building and influence skills. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of a matrixed organization. Strong networking capabilities required
  • Strong diagnostic and analytical skills with a deep curiosity of organizational systems leading to the delivery of practical and innovative recommendations or solutions. Demonstrated ability to translate these into a business case required
  • Understands the interdependencies of how people and organization’s function, and can negotiate through complex political situations effectively required
  • Self-starter, proactive, flexible, customer-focused, problem-solver, issue spotter and have a professional demeanor required
  • Demonstrated competencies in the technical, regulatory, legal, or other terminology specific to the appropriate functional processes, as well as a thorough knowledge of department and organization policies and procedures in assigned area of responsibility required
  • Must possess demonstrated skills in PC applications, typically involving new/emerging technologies, such as on-line databases, optical technology, intranet /internet, and computer software programs specific to the function required
  • Demonstrated competencies in the technical, regulatory, and legal terminology of the functional processes required
  • Work under limited supervision, exercising independent discretion and judgment, where input to changes in work processes and workflow required
  • Use of software and new/emerging technologies in performing the duties of the position to compile and generate reports, statistics, timelines, tables, graphs, correspondence, and presentations required
  • Positive attitude and strong advocacy skills to work well with colleagues required
