About the Department
You will be joining Fill & Finish Expansions (FFEx), which is responsible for all major expansion activities within aseptic production, solid dosage forms, finished products, fill & finish warehousing, and QC across all production areas in Product Supply. The area is anchored in Product Supply, Quality & IT, which globally employ approx. 20,000 of Novo Nordisk’s 50,000 employees.
FFEx is a newly established and growing area with the responsibility to design, plan, and build all new aseptic filling capacity across Novo Nordisk to serve the needs of millions of patients. We do it by rethinking our production facilities with the use of modern technology, as we are setting the standards for the aseptic production of the future. The Position
Position is project focused during the design, construction, startup, and turnover of a new greenfield Fill-Finish Facility Expansion (FFEx) which is currently designed in excess of 2,000,000 sf total. Provide direct input to design, programming, spatial requirements, operational considerations, etc. during the project phase, then transition into the operational phase which will include management of 24/7 maintenance, improvements, and upgrades of building & grounds of the FFEx Clayton facility in alignment with stakeholder needs and site strategy (environmental, social & financial). Manage up to 8 internal reports and oversee a team of contingent workers supporting janitorial, cafeteria, and grounds maintenance functions for the site.
Relationships
This role will report to a member of the site leadership team and will manage exempt & non-exempt employees as well as contractors. This role interacts with vendors (cafeteria, groundskeeping, wildlife control)
Essential Functions
- Coach & mentor direct reports consisting of professionals and technicians, to include assisting reports with career growth and development planning. Manage & Oversee
- Build improvements and upgrades (Identification, planning, investment requests, and execution)
- Lead internal & external project managers
- Manage housekeeping of facilities, groundskeeping, pond maintenance, parking lots & roadways, wildlife control & signage
- Partner with internal groups for planned site needs related to Site Services (building, cafeteria, janitorial, site grounds including roadways and parking areas, etc.)
- Manager contracts & suppliers providing food & beverage services, including but not limited to cafeteria, coffee/water service, vending machines & kiosks
- Oversee all accounts and contracts for building functions
- Ensure building and grounds repairs improvements and upgrades, accurately and in accordance with local, state, and federal building codes and regulations
- Comply with FDA, EMA, and other pharmaceutical regulating agencies where applicable
- Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
- Other accountabilities, as assigned
Physical Requirements
May move equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. May be required to be on your feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May required corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. May require the ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protections.
Development Of People
Supervisory. Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field from an accredited university required, or equivalent combination of education & industry equivalent experience as follows:
- May consider an associate degree in a technical field of study from an accredited university with nine (9) years of experience in pharmaceutical calibrations/metrology or other highly regulated industry required
- May consider a High School Diploma or equivalent with eleven (11) years of experience in pharmaceutical calibrations/metrology or other highly regulated industry required
- Minimum of seven (7) years of leadership/supervisory experience in engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, or building maintenance required, preferably in a pharmaceutical/regulated industry
- Minimum of three (3) years of direct supervisory experience required, may include managing others on a project
- LEAN experience, preferably certified within Novo Nordisk framework preferred
- Demonstrated experience in management of building and grounds in a GMP regulated environment preferred
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, to include managing in a Lean/cLEAN® way preferred
- Demonstrated experience in developing and managing budgets required
- Demonstrated experience overseeing building improvements and upgrades requiring investment spending required
- Demonstrated experience in managing vendor contracts >$100,000 required
- Demonstrated experience in mentoring, staff development and change management required
- Demonstrated experience in team development and planning for the future required
- Demonstrated communication, stakeholder management, problem solving & organization skills preferred
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing facility master plans preferred
- Collaboration: Builds strong working relationships within team, with other departments & across other NN sites. Ability to lead and influence across functional areas to drive alignment with site strategy required
