Our new Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API) facility houses the Fermentation, Recovery and Purification in the production of ingredients for Novo Nordisk’s innovative oral products. Are you ready to help make what matters? Then, we are ready for you!

 

Position Purpose

Provides leadership & guidance to Automation support staff. Responsible for Automation system support & overseeing subject matter experts within BMS, PCS, MES, Historian & PLC/SCADA applications. Ensures support processes, service level agreements are in place & people are trained sufficiently to meet the system uptime requirements. Responsible for developing strategic goals & objectives in alignment with all relevant NN business plans. Drives improvement projects & system upgrades.

 

Accountabilities

  • Assists in developing strategic direction for the company’s automation assets, monitors advancements in the industry, recommends & implements new technologies that help meet customer demands as well as production goals/agreements for the DAPI-US site
  • Collaborates with department leadership with oversight of automated system training, development, coaching, performance management, recruitment, & employee relations
  • Manages, leads & coaches teams of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure a high performing collaborative team environment. Provides continuous feedback, structure & accountability to improve team performance
  • Drives technical discussions & problem solving standards
  • Creates, develops, defines & implements dynamic Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) & behavioral expectations for areas of responsibility
  • Actively involves & manages stakeholders at all levels across the organization, as well as in DK
  • Ensures automation systems & processes are available, capable & accessible to meet production & business requirements
  • Assists department management in operating in accordance with internal & external regulations & procedures
  • Follows all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Other accountabilities, as assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in directly related field (MA/MS degree preferred)
  • Minimum of 7 years IT or Automation experience, preferably in a GMP manufacturing environment
  • Production support processes

 

Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of people leadership experience, including demonstrated ability to build a collaborative high performing team environment in a technical context, & inspire & motivate employees through continuous feedback
  • BMS, DCS, PCS, MES, Historian.  Preferably knowledge & experience with DeltaV, Syncade & Rockwell PLC/HMI systems
  • Manufacturing Intelligence systems
  • Infrastructure, networking, & instrumentation
  • LEAN manufacturing techniques & methodologies (including systematic problem solving standards)
  • System development & life cycle management
  • API production
  • Project management & IT governance, including support & system management, business continuity & forecasting

 

Physical & Other Requirements

  • Occasionally moves equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 30 pounds within the facility
  • Constantly operates a computer & other office equipment using hands
  • Able to travel domestically or internationally, up to 10% of the time
  • Able to work in an open office environment with the possibility of frequent distraction
  • Able to work the hours necessary to support a 24/7 continuous manufacturing operation
