The Position

Monitor the ammonia-related systems for multiple plant facilities & site support systems from a centralized control center for the FFEx facility. Prioritize, communicate & follow up on system alarm & warning conditions & abnormal trends. Support the HVAC/Refrigeration systems throughout the facility based on guidance from the Control Room Technicians.

 

Support the automation, controls & facilities engineers in operational troubleshooting & problem solving. Assist maintenance team with equipment & systems shutdown, start-up, LOTO & EHS permitting. Establish & maintain positive working relationships with internal & external engineering team & stakeholders.

Essential Functions

  • Provide technical support for site & automation project execution, as required
  • Prioritize, communicate & follow up on alarm & warning conditions & abnormal trends on all applicable systems
  • Drive corrective actions for operational systems anomalies for cause & clearance
  • Establish & maintain standards & operational procedures for control room & refrigeration systems
  • Support the installation, commissioning, qualification & training activities for all Site Support systems & controls
  • Support consistent operation, maintenance & response for all plantwide refrigeration systems
  • Support the engineers & facilities maintenance personnel as required for successful plant operations including troubleshooting & optimization activities
  • Adhere to all quality & environmental regulations within area of responsibility
  • Drive continuous process improvement using cLEAN® concepts
  • Adhere to all plant safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Initiate systematic problem-solving efforts
  • Other accountabilities, as assigned

 

Physical Requirements

Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Routinely operates & inspects manufacturing equipment using hands. Ability to work nights and weekends. Must be able to be on your feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear gloves. May perform critical job functions in extremely cold work environments depending on site. Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. May position oneself within confined spaces for inspection if required of the role. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. May be required to secure a motorized vehicle license & operate a motorized vehicle based on the role.

 

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a technical field from an accredited university required
    • May consider a High School Diploma or equivalent with four (4) years in facilities, utilities, or manufacturing automated systems control & operations required
    • Universal Refrigeration License required
    • Willingness to obtain CIRO/CARO (certification paid for by the company)
  • Minimum of two (2) years in facilities, utilities, or manufacturing automated systems control & operations required
  • Minimum of three (3) years facilities/utilities experience in a manufacturing facility preferred
  • Ammonia Refrigeration experience and operation preferred
  • Knowledge & experience in the operations, maintenance & design of cGMP utilities as well as working in a regulated environment (FDA, cGMP, OSHA) preferred
  • Proficiency in some/most Refrigeration and HVAC types with emphasis on Ammonia refrigeration required
  • Prior qualification/work experience required in operating plant  chillers and HVAC equipment required
  • Ability to read/review design drawings (CAD) with an extensive understanding of P&ID, PFD, HVAC, electrical systems & equipment schematics preferred
  • Understanding of technical documents such as URS, SAT, FAT, commissioning & validation protocols preferred
  • Understanding of complicated product documentation & standard operating procedures with attention to high-level concepts preferred
  • Computer literacy with associated systems preferred
  • Ability to prioritize equipment & system issues based on environmental or safety risk, production impact, & operational need preferred
  • Proven expertise in planning/organization/execution of project & maintenance activities, following up on results preferred
  • Strong communication skills across multiple organizational levels preferred
