The Position

The Environmental Monitoring Technician performs environmental monitoring (EM) of the aseptic area, which includes collecting viable air, total particle, surface, personnel, and water samples in support of facility environmental monitoring procedures, and in accordance with cGMP, NNPILP, and corporate policies. The role involves working in accordance with the Novo Nordisk Way and participating in initiatives to drive process improvements within the EM department.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain classified production areas by performing routine and non-routine environmental monitoring
  • Collect EM and water samples
  • Performs & documents all work in accordance with GMP, site & corporate procedures & policies
  • Utilize PEMS system to create labels, collect & submit EM samples
  • Utilize gLIMS system to create labels, collect & submit utility samples
  • Maintains a safe working environment & ensures compliance with all safety & environmental procedures & regulations
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Other accountabilities, as assigned

 

Physical Requirements

Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Routinely operates & inspects manufacturing equipment using hands. Strap & unstrap pallets using hands. Must be able to be on your feet for up to a 12-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves. May perform critical job functions in extremely cold work environments depending on site. May position oneself within confined spaces for inspection if required of the role. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. May be required to secure a motorized vehicle license & operate a motorized vehicle based on the role.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of six (6) months manufacturing experience required
  • (Requirement may be waived with related military experience, a Bioworks/BioBlend certification or equivalent from an accredited college, or a current Novo Nordisk contractor that has 3 months of demonstrated performance in the relevant area)
  • Experience working in an FDA regulated environment preferred
  • Aseptic processing or Environmental monitoring experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write & understand product documentation & standard operating procedures with attention to detail required
  • Strong communication skills & general computer skills (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in planning/organizing, managing execution, checking results & revising the work plan in accordance with the daily work plan a plus
