The Position

Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, materials, and waste handling procedures & regulations. Support Line of Business and Stake Holders in managing waste processes and procedures.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure compliance of waste, wastewater & storm water systems
  • Collect/coordinate waste & storm water sampling monthly and biannually
  • Collect, maintain & report environmental data
  • Execute the waste disposal & recycling program within compliance while implementing ideas for reducing volume & costs
  • Participate with the spill response & first aid teams, tabletop exercises
  • SDS and Chemical Inventory Management
  • Manage vendors & contracts for waste, recycling, environmental laboratory services, and emergency spill contractor
  • Perform and write deviation actions
  • Support Site Sustainability Initiatives
  • Manage and perform compliance inspections for LOBs and waste areas
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Other accountabilities as assigned

 

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in & around an active construction site during project phase. Ability to lift up to 33 lbs. with assistance. Ability to work in confined spaces, near operating equipment & with hazardous materials. Ability to work hours necessary to support department needs. Ability to travel internationally. May be required to be on feet for up to 12-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. May require the ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protections.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science or a related field from an accredited University required
  • May consider an Associates degree in environmental science or related field of study from an accredited university with a minimum of four (4) years of managing hazardous waste in a manufacturing environment required
  • Minimum of three (3) years general environmental compliance preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years managing hazardous waste in a manufacturing environment required
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations required
  • Participation in Emergency Spill Response preferred
  • Pharmaceutical experience is preferred
  • Good communication & writing skills required
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste regulations required
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance required
  • Hazwopper, RCRA and DOT certifications preferred
  • Able to develop & manage action plans to achieve targets required
