About the department
You will be part of the Employee Experience & Relations team within the People & Organisation (P&O) Division at Novo Nordisk Japan. Our team is focused on overseeing the organisation's human resources, including developing strategies and policies to meet business needs. We focus on employee relations, engagement, and well-being, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering a positive workplace environment. Our dynamic and collaborative team is based in Japan, and we work closely with various global functions to achieve our goals.
The position
As a Senior Employee Experience & Relations Manager at Novo Nordisk, you will:
- Develop HR policies, programs, and systems aligned with global direction and local needs, while managing employment regulations and guidelines to ensure legal compliance and support business objectives.
- Reinforce employee engagement and relationships by fostering a positive work environment and promoting well-being, while driving Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) initiatives to cultivate a culture where NN Way and leadership themes are deeply embedded.
- Ensure high standards of compliance with norms, policies, and procedures; manage compliance-related matters, labor issues, and labor disputes effectively; and oversee the Disciplinary Committee as part of the secretariat function.
- Collaborate with HRBP, Talent Development & Organizational Change Management, Regional Service Centre (RSC - Shared Services Operations), Legal, Ethics & Compliance, and global functions to develop and execute strategies for Employee Relations, Employee Experience, and Health & Safety.
- Support the growth and development of Employee Experience & Relations team members, ensuring their capabilities align with the organization’s evolving needs and priorities.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of HR experience is required; a Master’s degree and relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry are preferred.
- Proven experience in creating and implementing standardized HR processes, along with in-depth knowledge of labor law and HR management theory.
- Strong strategic and logical thinking, exceptional negotiation skills, and the ability to provide consultative support, facilitation, coaching, and engagement.
- Preferred experience in leading organizations through significant change, collaborating with works councils or labor unions, and managing teams effectively.
- Agility in learning HR platforms and technology, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and strong competency with related tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English.
