This exciting opportunity will be available for a Senior Director, New Serious Chronic Diseases (NSCD) Commercial Department in Japan.

About the Department

The NSCD (New Serious Chronic Disease) Commercial Department is newly created for New therapy areas e.g. CVD (Cardiovascular Disease), NASH(Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis), MCI(Mild Cognitive Impairment), Heart Failure, Parkinson’s Disease.


The Position


Responsible for preparing the commercial entry into new therapy areas in Japan. This includes detailed mapping of business opportunities, establish and build relationship with relevant external stakeholders, prepare launch plans and drive medical and commercial initiatives to optimise the value of the future NSCD assets in Japan.


  • Be responsible for overall project management of Project Hope in Japan and be primary liaison with the Stem Cell Commercial Unit in HQ.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration with HeartSeed and plan commercial entry strategies (developing market, market development, sales forecasting and go-to-market strategies including logistics set-up for distribution of stem cells).
  • Build organizational capabilities required to successfully enter into new therapy areas (e.g. CVD, NASH, MCI, HF) 
  • Develop business insights and intelligence to fully comprehend the market potential in the NSCD space and the future medical trends in the field. 
  • Closely monitor how the new markets develop along with competitor activities (commercial, medical, market access, partnerships) and provide strategic recommendations for Novo Nordisk.




  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in pharma industry, including Global matrix organization.
  • Minimum experience or equivalent Ph.D and research background in medical science, pharmacology or a related field. Master’s Degree, PhD in pharmacy, medical science, life science-related field and/or business degree (but with a strong scientific knowledge)
  • Strong communication skills and experience in building relationships/networks with health care decision makers (governments, payers, insurers, policy makers KOLs etc.) are must-to-have. Fluent in English and Japanese (written and spoken).
  • Knowledge of chronic disease areas (CVD, Alzheimer's disease, etc) will be highly preferred, and experience of Medical Affairs and cross-functional collaoration would be added advantages
  • Planning and launching experience would be an added advantage across different functions (e.g. Market Access, Marketing, Commercial Excellence, Business development)
