About the Department


At Novo Nordisk Japan, we have a Compliance team of 4 members including this position within the Legal & Compliance Division.

We are now looking for an experienced compliance professional to be mainly in charge of the promotional compliance of our Medical Represnetatives and Medical Science Liasisons on the frontline.

As our business is growing in both the existing therapeutic areas and also new therapeutic areas, this position is crucial to make sure that our growing frontline is equipped with compliant mindset and tools.


We would like to meet the people who can proactively propose new ideas and drive the projects, as the team culture is very open to changes.



The Position


The successful candidate will have compliance program ownership (Promotional activity compliance). Design, implement, optimize, improve, and run the program with occasional guidance from a manager and help from colleagues. The program covers various aspects of compliance infrastructure (e.g., rule-setting, tool-developing, training and communication, pre-approval process, post-monitoring process, reporting process, corrective/preventive actions, digitalization and IT system implementation). The program mainly covers risks related to local/global promotion rules and codes of practice on how pharmaceutical companies interact with HCPs (Healthcare Professional), HCIs (Healthcare Institutions), and patients, and promote pharmaceutical products. These tasks often involve project management and multi-stakeholder management.


Other expectations of the role are below, but are not limited to:


  • Business partnering: Help the business leaders take intelligent risks through clear-cut risk study and help them drive growth initiatives. Cover one or more LoB (Line of Business) and provide the LoB with various compliance supports including consultation, advising, reviewing contracts and communication materials, training, and solving problems.
  • Other tasks/projects/initiatives: Collaborate with other colleagues in Legal and Compliance Department and Compliance Group to help drive the Department/Group’s priorities/initiatives and handle ad-hoc tasks such as simplicity & agility initiatives (process optimization), compliance trainings and communications, compliance mindset building, new policies/processes/tools rollouts, liaising with industry associations, and compliance investigations.



The Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree or above, and experience of working as a Compliance professional in Pharmaceutical industry (especially with the Japanese Promotional code) highly preferred
  • Native level of Japanese language capability, and English language skills (need to be fluent if applying for a Senior position)
  • Legal mind (e.g., logical thinking, rule-based approach, interpretation, application)
  • Passion for integrity and compliance culture, and for learning and personal development
  • Proactive mindset & behavior
