About the department
As a Specialist/Manager in the Industry Policy Group within the Public Affairs department, you will be responsible for leading the strategic analysis, proposal, and implementation of advocacy and lobbying activities related to industry policies. Working closely with senior management and executive leadership, you will help shape policy strategies that address Japan’s fundamental healthcare challenge and contribute to a sustainable healthcare ecosystem.
You will establish and maintain high-level relationships with stakeholders in the industrial sector to promote policy improvements that support a sustainable healthcare ecosystem and maximize patient benefits, in alignment with the company’s purpose and goals.
You will be part of a collaborative Public Affairs team led by an experienced public affairs professional, offering an environment that supports strategic thinking, creativity, and professional growth.
The position
As a Public Affairs, Industry Policy Specialist/Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Lead the planning and management of policy-related advocacy programs, working closely with design and execute advocacy activities, campaigns and organize events related to industrial policy, contributing to management-level decision making and strategic problem solving.
- Build and maintain relationships with wide range of stakeholders to establish and nurture professional relationships with industry associations, think tanks, academia, embassies, government agencies, etc. and facilitate regular communication and collaborations to address Japan’s core healthcare challenges and advance a sustainable healthcare ecosystem.
- Collaborate and coordinate with internal departments to gather insights and align policy initiatives as well as provide policy-related support and guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Conduct research and analysis of industry-related policies, analyze the effectiveness and impact of current existing policies and identify areas for improvements, monitor industry developments, emerging trends, etc.
- Respond and adapt to regulatory changes and assess their impact on current policies, develop and implement strategies to adapt to new regulations while effectively communicating these updates and their implications to relevant stakeholders, demonstrating creative and solution-oriented approaches to complex policy challenges.
Qualifications
- Must possess a bachelor’s degree or higher (preferably in Public Relations, Politics, Business Management, Communications, Political Science, or a related field).
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in at least one or more of the following areas is required: Public Affairs and/or Government Affairs in the pharmaceutical industry, Public Affairs and/or Government Affairs with a strong interest in the pharmaceutical industry, or experience in the pharmaceutical industry with a focus on negotiating with related government agencies or industry associations.
- Native level Japanese is required.
- Strong business English proficiency required.
