Position title: Pricing Manager (Stem Cells/Regenerative Medicine)

Department: Market Access & Pricing Department

Location: Tokyo, Japan


This position will be responsible for leading the pricing projects for stem cell products, specifically:

  1. Development of expertise in stem cell product pricing
  2. Working-level leadership in Japan of the partnership with HeartSeed, the Japanese regenerative medicine start-up company
  3. Execution of strategic pricing and reimbursement negotiations that secure patient access and sustain product value for NN’s stem cell products
  4. Supportive contribution to Market Access & Pricing team to ensure achievement of team goals and NNPL purposes

The Position

The Pricing manager is required to lead and execute strategic imperatives as below:


  • Develop insight and understanding of regenerative medicine pricing and reimbursement in Japan (platform or disease specific can be discussed), including existing stem cell-based therapies market access in Japan
  • Establish in-depth understanding of regulatory framework around stem cell-based therapies and collaborate with PMDA and other stakeholders in the area
  • Establish cost effectiveness baseline data, including the direct costs of treating heart failure in Japan (medical treatment and hospitalization), and indirect costs, such as loss of productivity
  • Develop the pricing and market access plan (in collaboration with HeartSeed)
  • Identify and establish collaboration with heart failure treatment centers to generate the JP treatment cost data
  • Establish Quality of Life and unmet medical need insights for Japan
  • Collaborate closely with other stem cell-based therapy teams in NN
  • Establish collaborative relationship with pharmaceutical companies and association (e.g., EFPIA) to share the latest information about regenerative medicines
  • Support Market Access & Pricing team in achieving team goals and NNPL purposes, working in a flexible manner






  • Bachelor’s degree within a relevant field required. A master’s degree is preferred
  • At least 2 year of market access and pricing experience (international or Japan)
  • At least 5 years in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Self motivated, driven, courageous, open-minded
  • Strategic planning and logical thinking
  • Able to collaborate across functions, geographies and organisations
  • Excellent communication, presentation and social skills
  • Ability to constructively challenge assumptions and influence others in a respectful manner
  • Native, professional-level command of Japanese, written and verbal
  • Ability to communicate professionally (written and orally) in English
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred experience

  • Pricing experience of Sakigake-designated compounds and rare diseases
  • Academic background or work expericence in stem cell/regenetrative medicine area
