Pricing Manager

Are you ready to shape how millions of patients in Japan access breakthrough treatments in obesity and cardiovascular care? This is a rare moment to join a market access team just as two of the most dynamic therapeutic areas in healthcare take centre stage – with a thoughtful runway to build your expertise before things really accelerate.

Your new role

As Pricing Manager, you will independently lead strategic pricing and market access projects for our Obesity and Cardiovascular portfolio in Japan. The first months offer a valuable ramp-up period – ideal preparation if you are transitioning from another therapy area – before the pace picks up over the coming year as our pipeline and market presence expand. You will sit within the same division as HEOR and Government Affairs, giving you direct, active influence over the evidence and policy conversations that shape access decisions.

Day-to-day your tasks will include:

- Leading pricing strategy development, target price alignment, pricing dossier preparation, and price negotiations with MHLW for assigned products

- Driving pipeline access planning and mid-to-long-term value forecasting, ensuring insights are integrated into R&D, commercial, and financial planning

- Leading lifecycle management, HTA, and wholesaler-related initiatives to sustain and enhance product value

- Exploring innovative pricing approaches, including opportunities in out-of-pocket medical care, in response to evolving external environments

- Building productive relationships with MHLW, C2H, industry associations (EFPIA, PhRMA), academia, and internal partners across NN (Japan and global)

- Collaborating cross-functionally with Market Access, HEOR, Government Affairs, Medical, Marketing and Finance to shape and execute integrated access strategies

- Contributing to team capability building through knowledge sharing and best-practice development

Your new department

As part of International Operations, you will join our largest operational unit. Covering 194 countries and 95% of the world’s population, more than 18,000 of us work passionately to serve 35 million patients each day. With a promise to outperform the competition, we continue to be the growth driver for Novo Nordisk, and to improve health at scale across the globe.

Within International Operations, you will join the Market Access Department at Novo Nordisk Pharma Japan, reporting to the Associate Director of Market Access. Our team brings together diverse backgrounds and perspectives in an inclusive environment where every voice is heard. Because Market Access, Pricing, HEOR and Government Affairs all sit under one roof, collaboration is genuinely seamless – you can actively engage on the evidence and policy work that matters most to your projects. Our leadership style balances clear business direction with real empowerment: you will have space to speak openly, take ownership, and grow into the professional you want to become.

Your skills & qualifications

We are looking for a Pricing Manager who combines strategic thinking with strong stakeholder engagement skills and a genuine curiosity about how access shapes patient outcomes. You will bring with you:

- A Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, healthcare, business, economics or related field (Master’s or equivalent advanced qualification preferred)

- More than 3 years of strategic pricing and reimbursement negotiation experience

- Progressive experience in the healthcare industry (pharmaceutical, medical devices, or related healthcare sectors) with access-related functions

- Proven cross-functional collaboration and project management experience, including with global or regional stakeholders

- Japanese (Business-level or higher) and English (conversational or higher) language skills

- Excellent strategic thinking, logical problem-solving, communication, negotiation and influencing skills

- Preferred: experience with pricing and access approaches for new drugs, medical devices, digital health, or out-of-pocket markets; exposure to Regulatory Affairs, Medical, Marketing, Finance, Health Economics, Data Analytics, or Consulting
