About the department
This position will be assigned to the Obesity Business Unit and will report directly to the Senior Director of Patient Engagement & New Business Model department (PENB). While Obesity is a disease that can lead to health problems that are not currently being suffered from, this team is responsible for development of strategies to address the need for its treatment and continued treatment to prevent all the variety of possible health issues that can arise from being obese.  This requires the skills and mindset to develop strategies from the end-user's perspective by collecting voice across a variety of channels.

The position 
In this role, you will contribute to the realisation of our mission: “Establish Obesity Disease as a disease that requires medical intervention and provide people with Obesity Disease in Japan with new, innovative and effective treatments and treatment environment”.
Some of your key activities will be to:

  • Develop the activation strategy for new patients segments with optimized channel selection, and drive market research to figure out the activation pillar and improve the patient journey.
  • Initiate, lead and implement patient awareness and activation activities through innovative approaches in private, public sector and consumer market in collaboration with other functions (Comms, public affairs, medical, etc.). Also, facilitate an ecosystem of touchpoints for patients looking for help e.g., HCP (Health Care Professional) locator, Truth About Weight and other relevant sources.
  • Orchestrate omnichannel media engagement and optimize investments to reduce the cost of patient acquisition.
  • Drive awareness of Novo Nordisk in and amongst the obesity market, and manage and build relationships with key external stakeholders, KOLs, associations and external partners in collaboration with other functions, and select, run and hold agencies and other suppliers accountable for delivery.
  • Collaborate with the cross-functional team to develop, realise, and implement tactical plans according to patient journey and identify leverage points.



  • Innovative and flexible mindset to challenge the status quo and try new ways is essential.
  • Digital and Social media skills in market research is required.
  • Cultural understanding of Japan and excellent communication skills in Japanese  both verbal and written is necessary.
  • 5+ years of commercial experience in FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) industry, life sciences, or other highly regulated industries is required.
  • Fluency in English (TOEIC score of 700 or higher is a plus).
