The position:

Responsible for leading Novo Nordisk Japan’s HEOR (Health Economic Outcomes Research) projects, securing patient access and sustaining product value for NN products by generating and communicating clinical and economic evidence for use in pricing and HTA (Health Technology Assessment) submissions and for scientific exchange by Medical and Commercial teams


All tasks require close and interactive communication and strong relationships with:

(a) internal stakeholders (Clinical, Medical and Regulatory (CMR), Commercial, and Market Access in JP and HEOR/RWE teams in HQ)

(b) external stakeholders, such as academic experts in the field of HEOR/HTA 

Main job tasks:
The Senior HEOR Manager is required to provide strategic leadership as below:
・    Develops HEOR and RWE strategy and leads the implementation of HEOR studies, value messaging, and scientific communication plans for pipeline products (e.g. Obesity, Diabetes, NASH, CVD, Alzheimer, CKD, GH, Haemophilia and other new disease area)
・    Leads on publication of HEOR evidence and communication related to publication with key decision-makers. Publications to cover e.g. cost-effectiveness models and analyses, quality of life/patient reported outcomes studies, indirect comparisons/network meta-analyses, burden of disease, budget impact analyses, real world effectiveness/outcomes studies, adherence/persistence analyses   
・    Works with cross functional teams such as Medical and Marketing to identify HEOR data needs throughout the portfolio products’ life cycles
・    Understands, modifies, and adapts relevant HEOR methods (e.g., observational data, post-hoc analysis of clinical trials, meta-analysis, indirect comparison, etc.) to demonstrate product value
・    Develops external relationships and works closely with KOLs and academic researchers
・    Provides HEOR input to HQ related to drug development and clinical trial programs, related to e.g. study population, comparators, QoL/PRO questionnaires, endpoints 
・    Acts as a key subject matter expert in various methodological and analytic aspects and provides consultation to / collaborates with key internal and external stakeholders to provide solutions that are aligned to portfolio strategy
・    Works flexibly and supports on Market Access & Pricing team to ensure achieving team goals and NNPL purposes


・ Bachelor’s degree within a relevant field required. A master’s degree is preferred

Required experience
・    Five years of pharmaceuticals or healthcare-related (consulting) industry/organization experience

・ Three years of experience within the field of HEOR or RWE
・    Cross functional project management experience
・    Knowledge of methods and principles of HTA submissions (ideally including Japan’s system, but if not the desire to acquire expertise in the Japanese system)
・    Prior experience with retrospective claims database analysis, health economic modelling, and/or patient-reported outcomes measurement with a sound understanding of how to successfully apply research principles to support business activities


Preferred experience
・    Eight years of pharmaceuticals or healthcare-related (consulting) industry/organization experience 
・    Three years + experience within the field of HEOR or RWE
・    Experience in leading HTA submissions (overseas or in Japan), including dossier creation and health economic model adaptation
・    Proven track-record of publishing scientific research in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at local/international conferences
・    Experience in tailoring HEOR evidence to decision makers’ needs (e.g. adapting Global Reimbursement Dossier, economic models and communication) to successfully drive local HEOR activities to support Market Access & Pricing initiative
・    Experience in communication with global counterparts within HEOR function
・    Science and research background
・    Commercial background
・ Stakeholder engagement experience

About the department:

This position is located in the Market Access and Pricing Department and will report to the department Director. The division consists of 7employees with great diversity in gender and background.
