About the department
You will be a part of Novo Nordisk Japan's Finance and Operations team, directly reporting to the VP of Finance & Operations. Our team is dedicated to driving financial excellence and operational efficiency. We foster a collaborative and innovative atmosphere where every team member's contribution is valued. Located in Japan, our department is a hub of dynamic and fast-paced activities, ensuring that we stay ahead in the rapidly evolving pharmaceutical landscape.
The position
As the Commercial Data & Reporting Director, you will oversee the management of the data platform, lead business intelligence initiatives, ensure effective stakeholder communication and governance, provide leadership to 4 direct reports and 2 indirect reports, and drive digital transformation efforts.
Your main responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Manage data pipeline ingestion, normalization, and integration on our Snowflake-based system while maintaining a prioritized backlog of data projects and clearly communicating requirements and timelines to the team.
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data products for commercial functions, including sales performance tracking and predictive analytics.
- Develop and execute a strategic vision for Business Intelligence (BI) that aligns with organizational goals, driving the adoption of BI tools for data-driven decision-making while ensuring the accuracy and reliability of BI reports.
- Act as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and the technical team to ensure alignment of data initiatives with business needs, and establish data governance policies to maintain quality, security, and compliance.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of data professionals to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation while leading digital transformation initiatives by implementing cutting-edge data and analytics solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in IT or Data Science.
- Minimum of 7 years in data management, analytics, or related roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership position managing technical teams using Agile/DevOps practices.
- Established experience leading and delivering successful BI projects using tools such as Qlik Sense and Power BI. Basic understanding of the commercial business model in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred.
- Excellent presentation and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage expectations and foster trust among stakeholders with differing priorities.
- Proficient in both Japanese and English, with strong adaptability and a proactive approach to business leadership and continuous improvement.
