Your new role
This position provides field leadership, coaching, mentoring and management for the Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs), and develops and implements field-based strategies consistent with the overall Medical Affairs Strategy and strategic imperatives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Key Opinion Leader (KOL) Management: Optimize relationships with KOLs and healthcare professionals to enhance scientific knowledge of Novo Nordisk products; lead efforts to identify and engage KOLs, ensuring regular updates and addressing inquiries.
- Collaboration with Sales Force: Foster effective communication between the MSL team and sales force to enhance scientific engagement; define healthcare professional targets and adapt strategies based on business needs, ensuring collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Team Development and Performance Evaluation: Mentor and coach MSLs to foster personal and professional growth; evaluate field performance, provide constructive feedback, and support the setting of annual goals to align with unit objectives.
- Representation and Strategic Communication: Represent the MSL team at scientific events and create business opportunities through medical insights; deliver comprehensive reports on field insights and strategic recommendations during cross-functional meetings, emphasizing their implications for business goals.
- Compliance and Administrative Support: Ensure all activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies; provide administrative support for field-based MSL activities, monitor engagement effectiveness, and ensure timely reporting and understanding of business priorities among direct reports.

By gathering valuable field insights, the team informs internal stakeholders about evolving medical needs, ensuring that Novo Nordisk's offerings align with the needs of healthcare professionals and patients alike.
Your skills & qualifications
The candidate should demonstrate a strong focus on self-development and leadership while effectively communicating the value of field medical activities to stakeholders; they must possess a take-charge attitude, work autonomously, and navigate rapidly changing market dynamics. Additionally, the candidate should be skilled at establishing and strengthening relationships with customers, enhancing Novo Nordisk’s image through effective communication and negotiation skills. You will bring with you:
- An advanced healthcare or science degree is required, along with knowledge of local and corporate compliance and regulatory processes.
- Preferred experience in therapeutic areas such as hematology, diabetes, or endocrinology.
- Experience working as a Medical Affairs Professional (Medical Science Liaison (MSL) experience is highly preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex tasks and lead professional teams effectively (people management experience is preferred).
- Native fluent Japanese and strong business English required
