The Position
As the Business Development Manager, you will be accountable for contributing to the realisation of our mission to establish Obesity Disease as a disease that requires medical intervention and provide people with Obesity Disease in Japan with new, innovative and effective treatments, by driving the business development strategy.  Also, contribute to the development of the obesity strategy and support the respective planning processes as well as drive initiatives for future product launches. You will grow NN Obesity portfolio through exploration and implementation of innovative approaches in private and public sectors, as well as consumer market in collaboration with other functions while managing compliance and reputational risks – focuses mostly on diagnosis, treatment, and adherence pillars of patient journey.
Other role tasks are as follows but are not limited to:

  • Accountable for securing sales, developing new accounts, and servicing existing accounts to improve access to high quality, and good value private weight management services, that will improve outcomes for patients living with obesity disease and its associated conditions.  Analyse, identify, and communicate areas of opportunity for business growth with short to midterm strategic focus.
  • Responsible for helping grow the obesity business by finding new opportunities/key projects, establishing relationships with potential new clients, developing new plans and accounts, and driving strategic opportunities and new partnerships for our business.  Influence key decision makers by communicating the incentive and value of developing obesity services with inclusion of NN Obesity portfolio. Seek and deliver innovative solutions and new partnerships with wide range of stakeholders. Lead development and drive patient pull-through for diagnosis and treatment pillars of the patient journey, and directly contribute to the development of obesity sales in private market.
  • Work according to Business Ethic policies and procedures, local law, market codes, Novo Nordisk Way, policies, and guidelines.  Provide input, feedback, and assistance to other obesity projects, initiatives, and activities (e.g. the development and execution of pharmacy engagement strategy) driven by the same business unit.
  • Guide and orchestrate the cross-functional team to develop and realise implementation of tactical plans according to patient journey and identified leverage points.  Share and utilise best practices and lead other cross-functional or strategic projects as required by the business including providing support and backup for peers.  Manages external stakeholder relationship.  Select, run, and hold agencies and other suppliers accountable for delivery, while identifying and avoiding obvious failures, challenge new things, and apply agile learnings in unpredictable situations.  Demonstrate continuous-improvement mindset & proactive sharing of knowledge.

 

Qualifications

  • Must have a bachelor’s degree, preferably with coursework focusing on Business Administration, Marketing, Life Sciences, or other relevant fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of pharmaceutical/healthcare, consumer goods or regulated industry. Business Development experience preferred, with successful track record of solid business development, key account management, sales, and business planning experience, as well as working knowledge of contracts and contract negotiations the ability to evaluate the return of investment, and tactics for new sales channels (both private and public, as well as online and offline).
  • Business-level English is preferred.
  • Proven project management experience is preferred.
