The Position
Global Business Development is responsible for Novo Nordisk’s business development activities related to establishing external partnerships, collaborations and acquisitions as well as integration and alliance management. The SVP area consists of five units covering business development end-to-end with Search & Evaluation, BD Transactions, Corporate Intelligence & BD Valuations, Rare Disease BD and Integration & Strategic Alliances.
The Senior Executive Assistant (Senior PA) to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Global Business Development at Novo Nordisk will provide pivotal executive-level support to the SVP and leadership team, contributing to the success of a critical strategic unit within the company. This involves managing and completing administrative tasks, including managing the SVP's schedule and travel arrangements, preparing for meetings and presentations, coordinating events, and overseeing ad hoc responsibilities. Additionally, this position plays a key role in chairing the administrative team in Global Business Development and contributing to the successful planning and execution of team meetings.
Relationships
Reports to SVP Global Business Development.
The Senior Executive Assistant closely collaborates with the SVP and leadership team in Cambridge and beyond, as well as works alongside the Chief of Staff to the SVP, Finance Partner, and HR Business Partner. It is expected that this position will also establish connections with various international stakeholders, internal and external collaborators, and team members, contributing to the cohesive functioning of the Global Business Development unit.
Essential Functions
- Provide high-level administrative support to the SVP, including, but not limited to calendar management, travel arrangements, coordination of designated correspondence and other administrative and assigned tasks as required, including, but not limited to managing designated correspondence
- Prepare for meetings, presentations, and events, including preparing and confirming agendas, and recording meeting minutes
- Chair the Personal (Administrative) Assistant team in Global Business Development; provide informal coaching/guidance and back-up support to members of the administrative team as needed
- Collaborate with the Global Business Development leadership team
- Demonstrates clear instincts for prioritization and determines which situations should be elevated and what can be delegated or addressed otherwise
- Functions autonomously, exercises discretion and sound judgment, and works independently on a variety of assignments and special projects
- Provide support to team members for general administrative needs such as presentation development, greeting guests, and new hire onboarding
Physical Requirements
Travel Up to 5% overnight travel required.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED required, Bachelors degree preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of advanced administrative or related experience required; advanced training or administrative certification preferred, advanced degree can be substituted for years of experience as deemed appropriate.
- Ability to handle complex sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to interact with all levels inside and outside of the organization along with HQ and global affiliates
- Ability to manage multiple complex priorities
- Proficiency in driving and handling administrative processes, IT systems, budget and expense handling, event planning, and coordination
- Ability to work effectively with tight deadlines on multiple projects and with different stakeholders
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proactive, adaptable, and flexible mindset
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Capacity to work independently and collaborate remotely
- Reliability, loyalty, and service-minded approach
