As Legal, Ethics, Compliance and Quality Associate Director for Romania, you will shape the legal and ethical backbone of a fast-growing healthcare leader, safeguarding patients while enabling sustainable business growth. This is a hands-on leadership role where your guidance will directly influence strategy, culture and the way we operate across the market.

 

Your new role

As Legal, Ethics, Compliance and Quality Associate Director for Romania, you'll serve as General Counsel and Compliance Officer in a pivotal leadership position. You'll be the trusted advisor to our Romanian Leadership Team, ensuring we never compromise on business ethics, quality, or compliance while enabling our business to thrive.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing the Legal, Compliance & Quality Strategy for Romania, providing strategic direction and oversight across all legal, compliance and quality matters
  • Serving as primary point-of-contact for regulatory authorities during audits, dawn raids, or government investigations, and advising management on mitigation strategies
  • Providing fast, business-oriented legal advice on HCP interactions, anti-corruption, competition law, data protection, contracts, corporate governance, and regulatory matters
  • Leading all claims, litigation, disputes and arbitrations within Romania, coordinating with external counsel to protect Novo Nordisk's interests
  • Acting as Data Protection Responsible (DPR), coordinating GDPR compliance, data mapping, breach response, and data subject requests across the local organization
  • Managing the Novo Nordisk Quality System including recalls, deviations, quality audits and QMR assessments for the Romanian Leadership Team
  • Identifying and managing key compliance risks, conducting investigations in collaboration with GIA, BECO and Global Legal functions
  • Representing Novo Nordisk in Business and Industry Association meetings, building strategic external relationships

 

Your new department

The LECQ Director will join Novo Nordisk Romania’s established LECQ Department, a purpose-driven, high-impact team ensuring ethical, commercial and compliance integrity across Romania operations. The department comprises senior Legal & Compliance Advisors and leads the Quality team, collectively focused on commercial contracting, data privacy, integrity, ethics and enabling sustainable growth through innovation and strong stakeholder engagement.

 

Your skills & qualifications

We're looking for an experienced legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can balance strategic thinking with pragmatic, business-oriented advice.

You'll bring with you:

  • Law degree; fluency in Romanian (mandatory) and English (written and spoken).
  • Minimum 8 years’ legal experience in a fast-paced international company (e.g., pharmaceutical, FMCG, digital, telecom).
  • Strong business acumen with proven ability to translate legal and compliance advice into pragmatic commercial solutions and to partner with business leaders on strategic decision-making, risk assessment, and driving business outcomes.
  • Deep expertise in business ethics and compliance (including codes of conduct, FCPA and UK Anti‑Bribery Act) and a strong understanding of complex regulatory environments affecting multinational companies, with the ability to interpret and analyse Romanian legal requirements independently.
  • Extensive experience in litigation, dispute resolution, contract drafting and negotiation.
  • Demonstrated empowerment and accountability mindset, excellent cross‑functional collaboration and people development skills, and proven change‑management capability to simplify processes and increase agility.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and influence at all organizational levels.
