The Boulder Site is home to the specialized technical operations/CMC team for oligonucleotides and RNAi therapeutics, continuing its legacy as the hub for all manufacturing-related activities for GalXC™ and GalXC-Plus™ investigational therapeutics developed from Novo Nordisk’s acquisition of Dicerna Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in December 2021. With a new laboratory completed in 2021 to support analytical and process development, the CMC team works alongside Quality, Regulatory, Technical Operations and RNAi Early Development professionals at our Boulder, Colorado facility and works closely with our teams in Lexington, Massachusetts. The Position

At Novo Nordisk, interns will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced industry professionals and gain valuable, hands-on, full-time work experience. For ten weeks, interns will be immersed in the environment of a global pharmaceutical company and contribute to the line of business by providing sustainable and meaningful project work. Our internship program also includes instructor led trainings, a leadership engagement series, and a guided mentorship program to offer professional and personal development.

 

In addition to individual department responsibilities, interns will also participate in the program's capstone event, the Innovation in Action Case Competition. Assigned to cross-functional teams, interns will work closely to develop an innovative and comprehensive solution to a business problem currently facing Novo Nordisk. At the conclusion of the program, teams will present their findings to a board of top Novo Nordisk officials representing the various lines of business.

 

Program Start: June 3rd, 2024.

Program End: August 9th, 2024.

 

Scope of Position

 

  • Implement new synthetic routes of oligonucleotides on solid support using stirred bed technology.
  • Project responsibilities include designing, executing, and documenting scientific experiments to synthesize fragments of oligonucleotides on solid support using stirred bed technology. Assist in the utilization of automated stirred bed equipment for Nucleic Acid synthesis and analysis techniques will be introduced.
  • An exciting opportunity to gain experience in optimization of new route(s) towards oligonucleotides synthesized on solid support in stirred bed equipment, in a rapidly growing department.
  • Excel skills are mandatory for accurate planning of experiments that will be performed in the recently opened pilot plant facility in Boulder, CO.
  • Techniques for solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis & deprotection, HPLC analysis and UF/DF will be applied within this project.
  • Junior/Senior levels of organic chemistry students will be considered for this position, but will be heavily weighted on experience in organic chemistry and/or oligonucleotide chemistry and will be supervised by BsC/MsC level scientists.

 

Qualifications

  • Must be a current student enrolled or recently graduated (graduation date no earlier than April 2024) at/from an accredited college or university pursuing at least a bachelor’s degree

  • A completed or in progress bachelor's degree in or a related discipline preferred

  • Strong academic record with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher

  • Conscientious self-starter with good organizational skills, project management skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities, must be able to multi-task

  • Strong interpersonal communication and ability to collaborate with teams; must effectively operate independently, across functional lines, and with internal customers

  • Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, flexibility, adaptability and willingness to learn

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

The base compensation range for this position is $45,760 to $79,040 annualized. Base compen-sation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is not benefit eligible*
