The Position
The IT/OT Operations & Infrastructure Specialist serves as the first point of contact for IT equipment and system-related matters, providing operational oversight and technical judgment for systems supporting laboratory and regulated manufacturing environments. Systems in scope include GxP servers (virtual and physical), OT client devices, lab instrumentation computers, data acquisition systems, backup appliances, and OT network infrastructure components. This role involves collaboration with suppliers and global teams within Novo Nordisk to resolve these issues efficiently. Additionally, the position is responsible for managing compliance needs and documentation for projects, including the coordination, maintenance, and lifecycle oversight of deliverables to ensure regulatory, validation, and operational requirements are consistently met and maintained.
Relationships
This job reports to the manager of engineering and involves regular interaction with teams in Labs and Manufacturing. While the role does not have any direct reports, it requires collaboration with suppliers and internal Novo Nordisk teams globally to operate and maintain computerized equipment and IT systems. Collaborates closely with Lab Operations, Manufacturing Operations, Quality Assurance, and Engineering. Communicates technical issues and solutions clearly to both technical and non technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment and transparency during issue resolution and project execution.
Essential Functions
- Manage and Maintain IT/OT Infrastructure for both labs and GxP manufacturing equipment
- Manage and maintain IT/OT infrastructure supporting analytical laboratories and GxP manufacturing equipment, ensuring systems operate reliably within regulated environments
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT/OT systems software and hardware for multi-user server computers, industrial computers, and personal computing devices
- Ensure the operational integrity and performance of infrastructure, including backup and monitoring services
- Automate routine tasks using scripting to enhance efficiency and reliability, reducing manual intervention
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues with minimal guidance, applying independent technical judgment to ensure continuity of service
- Serve as the first point of contact for all operational IT/OT-related issues, working with global Novo Nordisk teams and suppliers in the US
- Cover computerized equipment and systems in analytical labs and manufacturing environments
- Support industrial automation infrastructure, including trouble shooting field devices and networked systems
- Support and troubleshoot industrial automation systems including PLC controlled devices, OT network components, and field instrumentation used in manufacturing. Provide hands on technical support for automation related system issues to ensure reliable operation across the manufacturing and lab environments
- Provide Technical Support and Expertise for both labs and manufacturing part of GMP plant
- Deliver expert technical support for defined issues, applying subject matter knowledge to resolve problems effectively
- Evaluate and implement known alternatives to address complex system software configurations and enhancements, considering operational impact, compliance requirements, and long-term sustainability
- Document and communicate solutions and best practices to promote knowledge sharing and consistent execution across teams
- Contribute to incident and problem management activities by performing root cause analysis, documenting findings, proposing corrective actions, and supporting CAPA processes to prevent recurrence of system issues
- Ensure Compliance and Security for both labs and manufacturing part of GMP plant
- Implement and maintain security protocols to protect IT/OT infrastructure and data integrity, and alignment with corporate and regulatory requirements
- Conduct regular assessments to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory expectations
- Support development, maintenance and governance of documentation for IT processes, procedures, and configurations
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, quality, and global IT teams to identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective actions to strengthen security posture
- Work with system managers in Novo Nordisk global teams during internal and external audits, supporting inspection readiness and ensuring systems remain compliant throughout their lifecycle
- Participate actively in change management processes, including performing IT/OT impact assessments, supporting change review boards, updating relevant documentation, and executing validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) as required for GxP systems
Physical Requirements
Limited to no travel is expected for this position, either domestically or internationally. The role requires working on the floor of labs or manufacturing environments, which may involve standing, walking, lifting, and interacting with various equipment and systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience, or Master's degree and 0+ years of experience, or Associates degree and 4+ years of experience, or High School diploma and 6+ years of experience required

- Knowledge or experience working with GMP systems or equipment is required, especially 21 CFR Part 11 compliance requirements”
- Knowledge and experience working with PLCs and industrial automation is desired
The base compensation range for this position is $83,400 to $150,200. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.
Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
