Your new role
As a Senior Automation Engineer you will translate user requirements into technical specifications, support commissioning and integration of automation solutions, and maintain the OT network and control systems that keep production running. You’ll support quality management activities related to automation and act as a technical expert across IT, automation and operations.
Day‑to‑day your tasks will include:
- Administer and maintain PLC control systems (primarily Siemens S7 / TIA Portal) and perform minor PLC/HMI logic updates as needed.
- Manage system administration tasks (Simatic Logon, backups, audit trails) and maintain compliance with site and corporate quality standards.
- Create and maintain control‑system documentation, manage change controls and translate production recipes into functional specifications.
- Contribute to the design, implementation and management of the plant’s industrial/OT network infrastructure, collaborating with IT and external suppliers.
- Support system commissioning, integration testing and troubleshooting under real production conditions; participate in investigations of deviations (OOS/OOT) as required.
- Ensure OT cybersecurity principles are implemented and followed (e.g., port/protocol filtering, VLANs, firewalls, DMZ) and support on‑call rotations for 24/7 system support.
Your new department
You’ll join a team focused on the reliable operation of automated control systems essential to pharmaceutical production. The group covers field instrumentation, control configuration and programming, OT infrastructure, and cross‑disciplinary collaboration to solve production challenges and improve processes.
Your skills & qualifications
To succeed in this role, you should:
- Hold secondary technical education, a technical university degree is an advantage.
- Be proficient in Czech and English and able to collaborate across IT, automation and operations teams.
- Have experience with PLC and SCADA systems (Siemens, Phoenix Contact or similar) and basic PLC programming/debugging skills (TIA Portal preferred).
- Understand control system architecture and industrial automation lifecycles, and be able to read I&C and electrical schematics.
- Be familiar with OT protocols (Profinet, S7comm, Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT) and have practical knowledge of OT networking and cybersecurity concepts (VLANs, L2/L3 switches, firewalls).
- Be willing and able to commute to Bohumil daily and participate in an on‑call rotation for local automated control systems support (24/7).
