The Position

Direct & coordinate the activities of the Project Management Office (PMO), Validation, cLEAN, Project Execution teams to support the production of Novo Nordisk products which meet or exceed business, regulatory & customer requirements in accordance with the Novo Nordisk Way. This includes providing direction, coaching & overseeing the management & supervision of over 70 project management & engineering managers, specialists/professionals & consultants/contractors.

Reports to PVP.

 

Essential Functions

  • Establish the foundation for future site capacity targets, including building the future project portfolio & driving key investment portfolio projects with an annual budget of approximately USD $3+ billion
  • Lead the organization responsible for establishing methods & systems for cLEAN including VSM, LEAN training, & operational LEAN support
  • Provide oversight & relationship management for all engineering management partners, to include management of all engineering activities and decision-making to balance between scope/schedule/cost/risk on all project disciplines to ensure all site projects are delivered on time & on budget
  • Drive & continuously improve key internal guidelines, policies, procedures & controls within the project execution process to ensure cost/schedule/scope controls are in place & functioning in accordance with budget & in compliance with all regulatory requirements, to include collaboration with the Accounting & Finance team
  • Drive executive stakeholder management & executive level communication to facilitate quick decision-making regarding project-related matters, to include presenting key decisions & requests to executive & investment management
  • Actively manage key stakeholders including internal and external partners on project management, engineering management & commissioning & qualification activities
  • Oversee PMO operation & development, including training within area of responsibility
  • Continuous process improvement via cLEAN®
  • Participate as member of Project Leadership Team in setting project goals, objectives & policies
  • Serve as project representative in all local/regional planning, master planning activities to ensure FFEx interests are represented
  • Serve as project representative in all local/regional project/engineering forums
  • Build & maintain relationships with network for external consultants/industry networks to facilitate projects/expansion success
  • Responsible for ensuring performance reviews & developmental planning occur across all levels of the team
  • Follow all safety & environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Other accountabilities as assigned

 

Physical Requirement Details

Ability to work in an open office environment with the possibility of frequent distraction. Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. (% can change on a case-by-case basis based on the role.)

 

Development of People

Supervisory. Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process. Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility. Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required; Science, Engineering, or Business preferred
  • Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Science, Engineering, or Business from an accredited university preferred
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of leadership/management/project management or consultancy experience required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, or quality, required, preferably in a pharmaceutical or other regulated industry
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing other managers required; experience in leading high performing project teams preferred
  • Meet or exceed customer, business, ethical & regulatory requirements in accordance with company policies & the NN Way required
  • Proficient in pharmaceutical industry systems, particularly in sterile and injectable drug manufacturing processes required
  • Knowledgeable in the effective management when working in complex organizations & in managing contractors to achieve project goals required
  • Knowledge of large CAPEX projects with a Project Management Certification required
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma or LEAN with strong process improvement, systematic troubleshooting & problem-solving skills preferred
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills required
