The Position

The Accountant, General Ledger, plays a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of financial records. This position is responsible for ensuring accuracy all financial data and contributing to the preparation of the financial statements, reporting, and internal control processes. The accountant will collaborate closely with the accounting team and various departments across the organization to ensure seamless financial operations and compliance.

Reports to Manager.

 

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for the general accounting function including but not limited to Accounts Payable, accruals, prepaid, and amortizations. Complete assigned month-end journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Ensures accuracy of accounting records in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company policies and procedures
  • Responsible for full cycle of local corporate credit card program, providing support to card holders for accounting and training, monthly reconciliation of bank statements to expense reports, and monthly journal entries to ensure expenses are recorded timely, accurately, completeness, and within company policy
  • Investigate and resolve problems associated with the processing of site invoices and purchase orders with Financial Shared Services and other departments
  • Support local tax compliance through monthly, quarterly, and annual filings and payments to ensure timely and accurate reporting and payments
  • Assist in monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages
  • Assist in month-end reporting and ad hoc analysis
  • Provides support for internal and external audits and other accounting projects assigned by corporate or site finance management
  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Physical Requirements

  • 100% work scheduled based on-site at Bloomington, Indiana facility.
  • Ability to sit at a desk 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field of study from an accredited university, required
  • One (1) year of experience in accounting or finance, with a strong understanding of general accounting principles, required
  • Knowledge of financial accounting, financial statements, and reconciliations, required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software, required
  • ERP system experience, preferred
  • Adaptability and continuous learning, required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail, required
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with various teams, required
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, required
