The position
You'll be part of the Software Products Department in Data Management and Informatics at Digital Science & Innovation (DSI), providing digital solutions for Novo Nordisk R&ED researchers, driving data-driven decisions and accelerating breakthroughs in medicine.
The Research Informatics Expert will support R&ED (research & early development) scientists at our research site in Beijing with lab informatics solutions by either introducing / leveraging global research informatics tools that you configure for local needs or by creating and maintaining targeted digital applications. You will achieve this by maintaining close contact with relevant R&ED scientists such that you are able to understand their needs from a digital solution and help to translate those into requirements while keeping FAIR data management aspects and the overall R&ED strategy in mind. In addition, you will help R&ED scientists to leverage these digital solutions more effectively by providing targeted user documentation and training. You will be part of an interdisciplinary agile product team, consisting of colleagues from R&ED, DSI, and our global IT organization, and are expected to align with the product owner, software engineers, and further research informatics experts to coordinate the delivery of digital solutions within an scaled agile solution delivery model.

 

As a Research Informatics Expert, you will have the opportunity to:
•    be a key contributor to our strategic initiative to create a global research informatics and data management landscape for R&ED scientists to improve the effectiveness of data-driven decision making following the FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable) principles.
•    work in close collaboration with R&ED scientists  focusing on target discovery at our Beijing site and support them to reach their research goals with existing and future digital solutions.

•    contribute to the configuration, adaptation, and testing of digital solution(s) for research data capturing, management, and analysis (e.g., ELNs, entity registration, lab data automation & workflow solutions, experiment result data management, data visualisation and insights generation) at our Beijing research site.
•    serve as expert for our global research data management solutions across all phases of the digital solution life-cycle, in particular with regards to requirement gathering, adaptation/configuration/operation of solutions, and user documentation & training.
•    align with research IT experts (globally) to identify the best digital solution(s) for research data management and how to evolve our digital landscape.

•    establish and nurture effective partnerships with research IT specialists, IT and data experts, external consultants, and digital solution vendors to ensure strategic alignment, high engagement, and the effective prioritization of resources.

 

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

•    BSc/MSc in Life Sciences (Biology/Chemistry), Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science (or a related field) and 3+ years of experience in life sciences, medical device or the pharmaceutical industry.

•    You have knowledge of the pharmaceutical research IT domain and broad expertise ranging from research data management to scientific digital solutions, including the ability to perform hands on technical work.
•    You are solution-oriented, a quick learner, and open to explore and learn new digital tools & technologies.
•    You have relevant technical knowledge to configure / administer / maintain (vendor or home-built) digital solutions.

•    You have solid knowledge in a scripting language, e.g., Python, R, or similar to be able to transform / analyse various scientific data.
•    You are able to negotiate complex expectations with a structured approach.
•    You have the ability to thrive amidst ambiguity and discern the unexpressed problems and derived requirements for digital solutions in a complex global research organization.

Software Products Department is a part of Data Management and Informatics of Digital Science & Innovation (DSI). Within the Software Products Department, the Product Support & Training team consists of digital experts with deep knowledge of our digital landscape (from entity registration systems and sample inventories, to electronic lab notebooks and further data capturing & management systems) and diverse competencies and experiences. The team members are essential to constantly improve and mature software solutions and ensure their seamless operation to accelerate digitalization across R&ED. While working in different product teams, focused on delivery, the Product Support & Training team brings together individuals with similar competencies and capabilities, allowing for optimal talent development.
