About the Unit

Novo Nordisk Research Centre China (NNRCC), an integrated part of Novo Nordisk Global Research in Denmark, has over 20 years of legacy as the first Pharmaceutical MNC research unit in China. The Position

You are expected to be an enthusiastic scientist with sound expertise in molecular and cell biology and skilled in manipulating and engineering in vitro systems for target discovery and screening. The successful candidate should be highly motivated in exploring new disease targets as well as innovative technologies to facilitate drug discovery.

The position combines hands-on bench work with the leadership of scientific projects and mentorship of research associates. You will lead, build and expand the drug discovery engine within Molecular Biology Department. The overall responsibility include acting as a team member in the technology expertise area and lead new drug development as a project manager or coordinator in collaboration with global colleagues.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop in vitro systems to express or knockdown genes of interest
  • Engineer cell lines for affinity, phenotype or function based assays
  • Manage and lead the design, production and engineering of diverse modalities (e.g., protein or nucleotide) for global pipelines
  • Contribute to new target discovery with both technological expertise and scientific insights
  • Utilize existing platform and explore innovative technologies to facilitate early R&D
  • Collaborate with global and local colleagues to expand internal competency of automation and digitalization
  • Function as department representative in evaluating and establishing external collaborations
  • Build and maintain strong network with internal and external collaborators and stakeholders

 

Qualifications

  • PhD in cell biology, molecular biology, synthetic biology, or relevant disciplines; working experience in industry or academia is preferred
  • Extensive experience in design and development of in vitro system to manipulate genes of interest (e.g., AAV, RNA, CRISPR, etc.)
  • Experience in engineering cell lines with artificial signalling pathways and reporter systems
  • Experience in high throughput screening is a plus
  • Expertise and experience in recombinant technologies and protein engineering would be preferred
  • Background in chronic metabolic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, NASH, CVD, CKD would be much preferred
  • Hands-on experience with various drug modalities (e.g., protein, peptide, antibody, mRNA, or oligonucleotide) is preferred
  • Demonstrated scientific creativity such as good track record of publication and/or proposing new hypothesis driven research projects
  • Strong ability to influence, communicate and collaborate with stakeholders across a global organization for driving the projects
  • Demonstrated expertise in scientific field and ability to apply skills to contribute to organization strategy
  • Knowledge and experience in bioinformatics, automation and digitalization would be preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
