About the area & the Position

In the computational research area, we collaborate closely with research scientists across the R&D area to improve and accelerate active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and drug product (DP) designs of new peptides and biologics. We have access to advanced state-of-the-art computational platform and are developing and applying data solutions to a variety of biological and chemical data, including throughput assay data, omics data and image data.

 

Your responsibility will be to define, develop, and establish solutions for scientific data registration, management, visualization, analysis and sharing at Novo Nordisk Research Center China by implementing commercial, open source or internally developed software and applications, both on short term horizon and on long term horizon. We expect you to collaborate with rest of the computational research team in in silico guidance of assay development and innovation through optimizing experiment and data analysis process for LoB. In addition, novel insights into conventional process and pipelines and the ability to investigate them in different scope and perspectives would be of great value in this position to drive digitalization and automation move whenever and wherever possible. An important part of the job is also to engage with stakeholders across the interdisciplinary and international organization, both internally and externally.

 

 

 

Requirements

  • PhD with 0-3+ years relevant experience, Masters with 3-4 years relevant experience, or equivalent knowledge through relevant practical experience in information technology, computer science, bioinformatics/lab informatics and data science
  • PhD degree preferred
  • 3 -7 years of research experience in computational method and scientific software/tool development, and/or data engineering within relevant areas of biomedical research; or equivalent knowledge through relevant practical experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing and applying data science solutions including the collection, management, analysis, visualization, integration and interpretation of chemical and/or biological data, especially working with large, complex datasets
  • Demonstrated success in technical proficiency in the field of data science and IT.
  • Extended knowledge and working experience with multiple statistics, modern machine learning and data engineering & ontology techniques
  • Experience with programming in several computing languages (e.g. Python, R, C/C++, Perl, Java)
  • Demonstrated scientific creativity and innovative mind-set such as good track record of publication and/or proposing new hypothesis driven research project
  • Demonstration of collaborative mind-set by participation in several international and/or cross-team collaborations
  • Desire to drive challenging data management and analytic problems in a dynamic working environment as well as ability to engage and collaborate with colleagues across different scientific disciplines
  • Proactively guide and advise scientists on scientific data capture, registration, analysis and visualization, while supporting and solving day-to-day data challenges
  • Project management or coordination experience with cross functional teams in research is preferred
  • Basic knowledge of drug discovery process and chronic disease biology, particularly within NN core Therapeutic areas (Diabetes, Obesity, CVD, NASH, and other chronic diseases) is preferred
  • Experience with collaboration with AI biotechnology and digital solution companies or personal connections in the data engineering/science field is considered a plus
  • Experience in relevant data platforms (e.g. Dotmatics, Tetrascience, etc) is considered a plus
