Your new role
As Senior Employee Relations Manager, you will be the trusted expert guiding our GBS organisation through employee relations, statutory compliance and policy matters. You will partner with leaders, employees and external authorities to ensure Novo Nordisk remains a fair, compliant and inspiring place to work.
Key responsibilities:
Employee Relations: Manage statutory grievance procedures, interpret and apply company policies and local regulations, and guide managers on performance counselling, attendance and policy violations, including disciplinary recommendations and documentation
Investigations: Conduct and support investigations into allegations of unfair management practices, ethical concerns, harassment and discrimination, partnering with Legal where required, and analyse ER data to identify trends and proactively prevent issues
Statutory compliance: Ensure 100% compliance with applicable central, state and local labour and employment laws by working closely with our statutory compliance vendor – covering returns filing, minimum wage revisions, ESI, LWF, registers, licenses and periodic monthly reviews
Government liaison: Represent Novo Nordisk with government authorities as and when required, and keep leadership informed of any material changes in labour laws that could impact the legal entity
Launch pad & onboarding: Facilitate launch pad sessions for new joiners of GBS within the ER scope, creating a strong first impression of our culture and expectations
PoSH Committee lead: Partner closely with the chairperson on the annual wheel of activities and participate in investigations, championing a safe and respectful workplace

Novo Nordisk Global Business Services (GBS) is an integral global capability centre of Novo Nordisk, operating as a hub that supports the organisation across the full pharmaceutical value chain. Established in 2007, the centre in Bangalore has grown from a small operational unit into a mature, multi-functional hub of around 4,000 employees, serving over 80 global affiliates and partnering closely with Denmark-based colleagues to deliver high-value, end-to-end business solutions. Over its seventeen-year journey, GBS has expanded significantly in scale, capability and strategic relevance, progressing from transactional support functions to owning complex, enterprise-critical processes. The evolution of GBS reflects a deliberate shift towards depth and sophistication. What began with foundational services in finance, IT and HR has today expanded to include specialised functions across Research & Development, clinical operations, safety surveillance, biostatistics, clinical reporting, regulatory affairs, medical affairs, commercial strategy, analytics, quality, legal, supply chain, and digital technology.
Education & Experience:
- Master’s degree in human resources and/or a Diploma in Labour Laws / Industrial Relations
- 9-12 years of employee and labour relations experience, preferably within HR Shared Services, with proven expertise in managing grievances, investigations and statutory compliance
- Strong collaboration with the HRBP team on employee relations matters, partnering closely to address employee concerns, support conflict resolution, provide guidance on workplace policies, and ensure fair, consistent, and employee-centric outcomes.
- Strong working knowledge of Indian labour and employment laws, and hands-on experience liaising with government authorities and statutory compliance vendors
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP HR / Employee Central, and experience contributing to HR operations improvement projects
- Exposure with Group Gratuity Scheme, worked with licensed insurer to pre-fund and manage mandatory employee gratuity liabilities.
- Ability to create dashboards, presentations and deliver data-based management insights
- Self-driven and solution-oriented, with excellent problem-solving, stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across cultures
