About the department
The Global Legal, Intellectual Property, and Security (GLIPS) department at Global Business Ser-vices (GBS) in Bangalore is a cornerstone of support for Novo Nordisk’s global legal and intellec-tual property functions. With a focus on efficiency and high-quality delivery, GLIPS GBS operates across three key sub-teams, ensuring operational excellence, risk mitigation, and compliance across global operations. The department fosters a collaborative and dynamic atmosphere, where diverse expertise drives success in the legal and intellectual property domains.

 

Aside from being anchored in the GLIPS GBS team, this role focuses on supporting colleagues in Novo Nordisk’s Research and Development (R&D) area, which is supported by a global R&D Legal team, which you will be an integral part of. The R&D Legal team is a newly established team with the mandate to support all of R&D’s legal needs and therefore we are looking for a colleague who can contribute with developing the team, our ways of working, and be proactive about the sup-port we bring to R&D to free up time for the scientists in R&D and enable a fast and simple contracting process.

 

The position
As a Legal Counsel at Novo Nordisk, you will:

  • Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, including those based on standard templates or bespoke agreements.
  • Take ownership of the end-to-end contracting process for low to mid-complexity con-tracts.
  • Respond to complex contractual queries and provide strategic solutions.
  • Identify risks and issues, offering alternatives that lead to optimal outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws by analyzing contract requirements, terms, and conditions.
  • Manage post-execution contractual compliance within the contract management system.
  • Standardize contract processes and contribute to process improvements.
  • Drive R&D Legal team goals related to handling an increasing number of queries in the GLIPS GBS
  • Proactively look for ways to improve the way to work and the services we deliver to R&D
  • Provide training to team members and perform quality checks on their work.
  • Deliver tangible or intangible value savings through impactful legal support.

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s or bachelor’s degree in law
  • 8–10 years of experience supporting the legal function within global corporations, with proven expertise in drafting, reviewing, and red lining a wide range of commercial contracts
  • Strong hands on experience managing the end to end Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) process, from intake through execution, amendments, and closure
  • Deep understanding of contractual terms and conditions, with the ability to identify risks, suggest mitigations, support negotiations, and ensure compliance with internal and ex-ternal requirements
  • Experience working in a global, cross cultural environment, collaborating with stakehold-ers across geographies and time zones
  • Demonstrated ownership mindset and personal drive, with a continuous improvement approach to processes, efficiency, and quality of work product
  • Prior exposure to contract management / CLM tools is strongly preferred.
