About the department
Medical Affairs-Operations is part of the Operations-GBS unit based in Bangalore, India. This unit includes various cross-functional departments that support medical affairs, marketing, analytics, communications, and supply chain functions across Novo Nordisk's international operations, regions and affiliates. The Medical Affairs-Operations team consists of dedicated medical and scientific advisors, project managers, graphic designers, medical writers, and publication managers. This multidisciplinary group works with IO-SO (International Operations – Strategic Operations), regions and affiliates, and collaborates closely with the Global Medical Affairs department in Søborg, Denmark. Our core competencies include effective communication of scientific and medical knowledge regarding our products and therapeutic areas, both within the organization and to the external medical and scientific community.
The position
As a Global Medical Advisor, you will act as a subject matter expert for assigned product(s)/project(s), delivering strategic medical guidance, scientific communication and stakeholder engagement across regions and affiliates to support and advance Novo Nordisk’s medical affairs objectives. This role requires extensive proactive scientific communication with internal and external stakeholders, along with independence, innovation, and initiative in prioritizing, planning, and executing activities. You will be interacting with Internal stakeholders: Medical Affairs in International Operations, Regions & Affiliates, GMA HQ, Field Medical Force, Marketing Research and Development, Public Affairs, Regulatory and Quality, Global Safety. External Stakeholders: KOLs, Research institutions, HCPs, Investigators, health authorities, relevant professional associations and patients’ bodies, external research agencies and vendors.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Execute medical affairs strategy in alignment with organizational priorities. Generate, interpret, and communicate scientific data to ensure appropriate positioning of Novo Nordisk products.
- Deliver timely, accurate, and credible medical education and guidance to internal and external stakeholders to support affiliates and cross-functional business needs.
- Act as a specialist and liaison to Key opinion leaders (KOL), supporting advisory boards, scientific meetings and symposia. Lead publication planning and be accountable for the content of assigned posters, abstracts and manuscripts.
- Provide medical/scientific support to medical, marketing, legal and regulatory as required. Extract and operationalize insights from KOL interactions to inform strategy and product positioning.
- Engage proactively with global KOLs and professional associations. Coach and support junior colleagues and contribute to cross-functional initiatives and high-impact projects.
Qualifications
- MD, PhD, or equivalent in healthcare with a strong clinical or research background.
- ≥3 years of clinical/medical pharmaceutical industry experience.
- Strong clinical and/or research background in area of diabetes mellitus, with interest in advanced scientific analysis and communication, and experience in drug development.
- Understanding of pharmaceutical drug development and the specifics of healthcare infrastructure.
- Excellent and proactive communication skills and strong presentation skills.
- Ability to leverage technology such as AI tools and adopt a data-driven approach.
- Experience in Medical Affairs function is preferred.
