Your new role

As Director of AI Engineering Solutions, you will build, lead and scale Novo Nordisk’s AI Reinvent Product & Engineering capability. This is a senior technical leadership role where you’ll own AI-powered product delivery from use-case discovery and architecture through to production deployment and continuous improvement across commercial, manufacturing, supply chain, and enterprise operations.

You’ll sit at the intersection of advanced AI/GenAI engineering, strategic product thinking, and organisational leadership – leading high-performing squads while serving as the senior technical voice bridging our AI Foundation team and the business domains that depend on AI to create competitive advantage.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and inspiring a multi-squad AI engineering organisation of 20+ engineers across GenAI engineering, ML engineering, AI application engineering, AI/MLOps and AI observability disciplines
  • Owning end-to-end delivery of GenAI-powered products and applications, including agentic systems, multi-agent orchestration frameworks, and autonomous AI workflows
  • Partnering with business leaders and the VP of AI Reinvent & Engineering to identify, validate and prioritise AI/GenAI use cases, translating business strategy into a sequenced portfolio of AI engineering investments with clear ROI
  • Defining architecture standards and engineering blueprints, leading technical reviews to ensure scalability, reliability, security, and compliance across all AI systems
  • Establishing production MLOps practices including model monitoring, hallucination detection, feedback pipelines, and AI incident response protocols
  • Championing responsible AI principles and ensuring compliance with GDPR, data residency requirements, and Novo Nordisk’s AI governance framework
  • Building Novo Nordisk’s reputation as a destination employer for world-class AI engineering talent through strategic hiring, career development, and fostering a culture of technical rigour and continuous learning

We collaborate with domain experts to translate business needs into production-ready models, ensure data governance and compliance, and maintain reliable MLOps pipelines for continuous improvement. Your skills & qualifications

We’re looking for a proven AI engineering leader who thrives at the intersection of deep technical expertise and strategic organisational leadership. You’ll bring with you:

  • 15+ years of progressive software/AI/ML engineering experience, with 5+ years in senior engineering leadership managing multi-team organisations
  • Deep hands-on expertise in GenAI engineering: LLM-based applications, RAG pipelines, agentic systems, prompt engineering, and LLM evaluation at production scale, with a proven track record of shipping AI/GenAI products end-to-end
  • Strong experience with modern AI/GenAI technology stacks including LangChain/LangGraph, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI APIs, vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector), and embedding models
  • Experience architecting multi-agent systems and agentic orchestration frameworks in production environments, combined with MLOps practices and production AI system reliability at scale
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, high-performing engineering teams – including hiring, performance management, and career development – while translating complex business requirements into AI engineering strategy and delivered outcomes
  • Strong commercial acumen with ability to build business cases, define ROI, and communicate AI investment decisions to executive stakeholders
  • MSc/MBA/B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a closely related technical discipline (Bachelor’s degree with exceptional industry experience will be considered)

Nice to have: Hands-on experience with fine-tuning workflows for domain-specific LLM alignment, familiarity with pharma-specific AI domains, experience with Databricks and Azure ML, knowledge of MCP server design, or published contributions to the AI/ML engineering community.
