About the department

The Commercial & Corporate Affairs, GBS unit is responsible for driving deliverables for multiple Corporate Vice President (CVP) areas including Commercial Planning, Multi-Channel engagement, Marketing & Market Access, and Commercial operations. The Commercial & Corporate Affairs GBS unit also provides competitive assessments for NovoNordisk (NN) therapy areas including diabetes, obesity Other Serious Chronic Diseases (OSCD) and digital health. We support global commercial strategy, corporate strategy including new product planning, and Research & Development (R&D) teams enabling strategic and operational decision making. 

 

The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to provide high quality monitoring and insights on competitor products, competitor pipelines and competitor R&D and commercial strategies, enabling Novo Nordisk to make informed decisions to ensure current and future success of our portfolio of products within Diabetes. Further, this position contributes as well as leads to portfolio analyses and projects on intelligence topics of special interest to Novo Nordisk and contributes to the continued improvement of the competitive intelligence function and application of competitor insights in Novo Nordisk.

The role has a global scope with the focus on the US, EU, Japan, and China. The role entails the possibility to attend to and reporting from international scientific congresses, mainly in Europe and the US. Travel is to be expected of up to 10% per year. The key responsibilities include generating competitive insights, project & brand support, ad-hoc on key intelligence topics and CI function development.

 

  • Provide high quality and data driven monitoring and insights generation related to the competitive landscape and competitor strategies within areas of coverage. Lead and follow scientific congresses or events within areas of coverage and report key insights timely and in high quality to relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain competitor overview & insights at CI portal by means of agreed CI deliverables on ad-hoc, monthly, quarterly, or annual basis.
  • Ensure strong support and challenge to Novo Nordisk’s key R&D projects and commercial brands within areas of coverage on project, portfolio, and corporate level. Mentor and coach new colleagues working with Competitive Intelligence. Adapt news monitoring as per unit level priorities and to support business decisions with the required information. Independently drive & communicate highly complex analysis supporting product and brand decisions.
  • Participate and support the BD teams in BD opportunities within the Diabetes area. Proactively, suggest and drive ad hoc analyses on key intelligence topics (KIT) of strategic interest to Novo Nordisk with the aim of informing key strategic project and portfolio decisions. Promote dissemination of CI insights and better practices to key stakeholders and management teams
  • Build and maintain a strong network internally in the organisation with relevant stakeholders in CSCA, Medical Affairs, R&D, BD and Reg. Affairs. Develop cross-functional understanding of Novo Nordisk departments and represent CI in the areas of responsibilities as a subject matter expert.

 

Qualifications

  • PhD within Medicine or Life/Pharmaceutical Sciences or master’s degree with 10+ years of working experience within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Ideally (but not mandatory) some experience in professionally communicating scientific, medical and commercial information, both orally and written to audiences at various organisational levels, including senior management and governance boards.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to process and interpret large amounts of materials of high complexity.
  • Ability to handle many assignments at the same time.
  • Excellent communication skills.
