Shape the strategic intelligence that drives portfolio decisions and positions Novo Nordisk at the forefront of diagnostics, devices and competitive insight – across therapy areas and across the globe.
Your new role
As Associate Director, you will define and lead the strategic direction of Novo Nordisk's diagnostics, devices and enterprise competitive intelligence capabilities. You will serve as a strategic partner to Global Commercial Strategy, Therapy Areas, R&D, Medical Affairs and Product Supply – generating actionable insights that influence portfolio decisions, launch strategies, lifecycle management and long-term business planning.
Leading a multidisciplinary team, you will build future-ready capabilities through digital transformation, advanced analytics and AI-enabled intelligence solutions, while shaping strategic thinking at senior leadership levels.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Defining and executing the long-term strategy and capability roadmap for Diagnostics, Devices and Enterprise Competitive Intelligence, aligned with Novo Nordisk's strategic priorities
- Providing strategic foresight and evidence-based counsel to senior leadership, influencing commercial, lifecycle, launch and investment decisions across the portfolio
- Leading global intelligence generation across diagnostics adoption, device innovation, competitor strategies and emerging market dynamics – translating complexity into actionable business implications
- Establishing best-in-class competitive intelligence capabilities including proactive monitoring, early-warning systems, scenario planning and war-gaming exercises
- Building and leading a high-performing team through hiring, coaching, upskilling, mentoring and succession planning – fostering a culture of innovation, agility and continuous learning
- Driving operational excellence through robust governance, resource optimisation, scalable operating models and continuous improvement programmes
- Partnering cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Clinical Development, Product Supply, Digital Health and Commercial teams to ensure intelligence is embedded in strategic decision-making
Your new department
In Product & Portfolio Strategy we drive commercial strategy, medical affairs and business development across all therapy areas. We act as a connector and compass, guiding the new Novo Nordisk portfolio for sustained competitiveness.
Within P&PS GBS, we drive commercial strategy, medical communications, congress excellence and evidence generation across our key therapy areas – Diabetes, Obesity and Rare Diseases. We work closely with partners in Denmark, the US and Zurich, interfacing upstream with R&D and Product Supply, and downstream with Regions and affiliates. In this role, you will lead the combined CI, Devices and Diagnostics team, operating with a high degree of independence and strategic influence across the enterprise.
Your skills & qualifications
We're looking for a strategic leader who thrives in complexity, inspires multidisciplinary teams and turns intelligence into impact. You'll bring with you:
- A Master's degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, Biotechnology, Business or a related discipline. A focus in devices, diagnostics or enterprise competitive intelligence within pharmaceutical sciences is an advantage
- 12+ years' experience in diagnostics, devices or competitive intelligence within pharma, life sciences or healthcare, with 5+ years leading high-performing teams
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives, drive transformation programmes and operate effectively in global and matrix environments
- Strong strategic thinking with proven expertise in competitive intelligence, diagnostics and device strategy, and commercial or portfolio strategy
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with fluency in written and spoken English and the ability to mobilise cross-functional partners into action
- A leadership style grounded in coaching, talent development, decision-making under ambiguity and a high willingness to adapt to new challenges
